Partisan politics & prayer

Last night: Downtown Vancouver
Partisan politics & prayer

Non-exhaustive

Based on biblical, Reformed doctrine, all persons via the human fall (Genesis 3) are corrupt in nature and choices (Romans, Galatians).

All human institutions are tainted by sinful human nature and choices.

All political parties are tainted by sinful human nature and choices.

Politics is often by its nature, partisan.

The New Testament Church, although tainted by sinful nature and choices, was not primarily politically focused. The Church was gospel focused when led by the Holy Spirit through the atonement and resurrection work of Jesus Christ applied to the elect. The Church is not yet perfected as the resurrection (1 Corinthians 15) and the culminated state (Revelation 20-22) has not yet occurred.

Therefore, partisan Christian support for political parties should be tempered by a prayerful, reasoned, objective approach.

Further:

This writer is tainted by sinful nature and choices.

Sinful human nature and choices, leads to tainted acts and actions.

I am not stating that that there is no legitimate, reasonable, political preference. I am stating that due to the human condition, political support should be tempered with objective reason. And tempered by prayer to receive that reason.
