A thought that comes to mind in regard to obtaining knowledge, that can be spiritual, political, etcetera...
Ignoring an uncomfortable premise, does not build knowledge.
(I would think that this is almost always true. An open mind can often determine if an uncomfortable premise is reasonable. The reasonable can be pondered on, and prayed on to see if it might be true.)
