Zoom Bullet Saturday

Brief Saturday Bullets during Vegas-Vancouver playoff game and for Zoom this evening

• I am pleased with the finalized version of my Mom's memorial page. With the COVID-19 pandemic, Mom's friends and relatives are too far away and having to quarantine if they visit British Columbia; this memorial page will serve as an online legacy.

• In regards to racism, I have noted that within my Reformed, Christian worldview from the English Standard Version (ESV):

• Galatians 3: 28: English Standard Version 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
Thank you, Miss CIA: Facebook

• 1 Corinthians 12: 12-13 English Standard Version 12 For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. 13 For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves[d] or free—and all were made to drink of one Spirit. d 1 Corinthians 12:13 For the contextual rendering of the Greek word doulos, see Preface (Of the ESV)

• I do not live in America, I live in British Columbia, Canada. I am not part of American culture, to be clear. But, my take is that most biblical Christians on this planet will understand and embrace that humanity all originate from Adam and Eve (Genesis 1-3) and Noah and family (Genesis 6-9). There is an equality in the gospel and in the New Testament for humanity. Racism in contrary to gospel theology.

• However, many biblical Christians and conservative and libertarian types, intellectually are not interested in being told, lectured or influenced through liberal, social, political correctness, in how to respond to the great evil of racism. Like myself, his/her intellectual influences are not primarily celebrities, athletes and politicians. Like myself, these influences could and/or would be biblical and academic. To be clear, law and order should be followed and this means respect for all within humanity by all within humanity.

• I came across this website and link while researching Noah and the flood.

Conclusions

If the 3.4-meter–thick layer of flood deposits in southeastern Mesopotamia (MacDonald 1988) represents a huge flood of ancient times, and if it is the remnants of the one described in the early Babylonian epics, then the authors of these epics were likely survivors who lived in a village on natural levees on the lower parts of either the Euphrates or Tigris Rivers where the flood waters covered their village, natural levees, and adjacent flood plains for distances of 160 to 320 kilometers so that no land could be seen, and their "whole world" would have been under water.

• I am not a scientist or flood expert, but I thought this approach above was far more academically open-minded than a couple of other online sources I came across today researching.

Thursday, December 13, 2018: Very brief on the Genesis flood

• I was aware in bible school that other creation and flood accounts were (are) extant. Creation, and the human response to it over time, and the flood occurrences would not only be Hebrew Bible events, but would be world events. As the Hebrew Bible is proclaimed as divinely revelatory, these other accounts, whether older or newer than the Hebrew Bible manuscripts, would tell these stories from a different worldview perspective. Rather than making the Hebrew Bible a 'rip-off' of older versions of world events, and therefore just different mythology, the Hebrew Bible versions serve as legitimate religious history with God that revealed self in several texts. Within the New Testament, the centrepiece of historical, documented, revelation is the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Gary Habermas has excellent resources on the historical resurrection.

New friend

New friend

Yesterday

Photo 2

This new friend of mine was briefly in our parking garage, and then settled near me long enough that I was able to take three photos.

I suppose, biblically, with a new creation (Revelation 20-22), wild animal-human contact would be much more typical. In whatever ways the human fall (Genesis 1-3. Romans 8) impacted the animal world, the results would be reversed.

Romans 8: 19-23

19 For the anxious longing of the creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God. 20 For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it, [a]in hope 21 that the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God. 22 For we know that the whole creation groans and suffers the pains of childbirth together until now. 23 And not only this, but also we ourselves, having the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our body. a. Romans 8:20 Or in hope; because the creation.

Cranfield suggests that the Apostle Paul here in verse 19, is explaining 'the whole-splendid theatre of the universe and all the manifold sub-human life within it as eagerly awaiting the revelation of the sons of God.' Cranfield (1992: 195). Humanity are the sons of God, in the context of regenerated, believing Christians having the atoning and resurrection work of Jesus Christ applied to them, which includes the imputed righteousness of Jesus Christ (Romans, Galatians). In the atonement, which is multifaceted, believers are justified and sanctified. In the future resurrection, believers are restored to physical, finite, sinless, perfection. (1 Corinthians 15, 1 Thessalonians 4).

Bruce explains in regards to verse 22 ...'it carries with it the hope of new life for all creation.' Bruce (1987: 164).

Mounce is his Romans commentary opines in regards to verse 20-21 that 'As sin brought the curse of death to the physical universe, the day is coming when a new heaven and earth will be in place (2 Peter 3: 13; Revelation 21: 1).' Mounce (1995: 185).

From Orthodoxy: In regards to verse 22, 'the transformation of all creation to be eternally in harmony with God's sovereign rule.' (The Orthodox Study Bible: 357).

That is extremely well-done: A good pet for...

1. An initial thought when I saw this video on Facebook was that it was cruel to take that shark out of the water. That is extremely well-done.

(Video pulled from Facebook)

2. My later thought is that this would be a good pet for Arne. Yes, his online girlfriends will be wanting to visit Norway. That is so cuddly. Arne can claim that it is from the Norwegian sea...

Dear Arne: Deputy Dawg

Dear Arne (The Norwegian Benny Hill, Deputy Dawg). Thank you for posting that fantastic video.

Just to be clear, considering that video, in case you have any ideas; if/when you visit us back in British Columbia, and if/when we tour the Excited States of Americana...

1. Your very cool Zoom Stetson, does not entitle you to drive your rental car 'Dukes of Hazzard' style in the USA.

2. The driving above in the video, is not the method to have an American law enforcement officer take his/her photograph with you.

3. The driving above in the video, is not the method to have an American law enforcement officer give you a free local law enforcement hat, to rival your Stetson.

(Probably your biggest desire)

4. Don't do it, Arne. When American Christian women online tell you to 'man up', that is not what they mean.

5. You are a fictional, cartoon, deputy, not a real one, sir.

6. The civilian driving method in the video, is not 'white trash privilege'...

Philosophical & Theological Reflections On Satirical Images: Beautiful card

Many thanks!
Philosophical & Theological Reflections On Satirical Images: Beautiful card

My Mother had dementia for many years and her brain was in decline throughout that time. I have had several years to become set with my thoughts and feelings on the subject of her passing. Note, for you few critics out there that I am adopted. But Mom was and is my one and only 'real' Mother.

Thank you very much to Clive and Amy Burslem from church that sent this both aesthetically beautiful and biblical card to me. It reminds me of the biblical hope of resurrection, for my Mother, and myself and anyone in Jesus Christ.  I continue to work on a write-up for Mom's memorial page.

As examples: In the New Testament, prior to the resurrection discussed in 1 Corinthians 15 and Revelation 20-22, those regenerated who trust in the applied\atoning and resurrection work of Christ, as disembodied spirits, have the hope and promise of paradise. In Luke 23, Jesus Christ, as God-incarnate promised the crucified criminal beside him, paradise that day. In 2 Corinthians 12 the Apostle Paul visited paradise, in body or spirit, he did not know.

I take paradise as biblically, an actual literal place, but in the spiritual realm, and not the physical realm. Paradise should not be taken plain literally as existing within our present realm (see link from my first website below). While I acknowledge that there are other more figurative theological interpretations of paradise within Christianity.

Perhaps a literal paradise has a simulated physicality? I doubt it is a timeless state where residents are simply given divine thoughts. Time is required, or a realm of finity at least, as a finite entity requires time or a realm of finity to reason from 'point a' to 'point b'. This is unlike God that has infinite knowledge outside and inside of time and finity and knows all as opposed to reasoning in time and/or finity as finite entities do. I reason that  time/finity in the spiritual realm is definitely not solar time or time within a natural realm, but rather a supernatural realm. In other words, I do not know how the time/finity in paradise will be perceived by persons from physical death to resurrection.

My deduction it that it will not seem like 'years' or too long for people in paradise, between their arrival and departure as resurrected. But this is speculation.

I informed a friend and neighbour about Mom's death on July 31, 2020, today. As I explained Mom's thoughts on death, this neighbour appreciated and respected my historical, religious embracing of the gospel in regards to life and death, which were similar to Mom's views. At the same time, I appreciated and respected my neighbours rights to hold to her own private religious views (or no religious views), even as my views will be in agreement and disagreement with hers at points.

The Norwegian Benny Hill's weekend driving gig did not work out that well...

Apparently Benny was in such a Rush (not Mahavishnu) to get home, to chat online with his much younger and thinner foreign 'girlfriends', that he took the incorrect route for heavy trucks, back to his employer. This story was it appears even a 'hit' in Asia. However, this story has not been 'fact-checked' or 'fat-checked' and may be satire.

Thank you to Mr. Arne Novik for posting on Facebook.

J.C. Zombie is added to our new 'Pop!' tradition as he has a Happy Little Birthday. More Pop! to come? Strange how much those look like the two of us...

A good long weekend with friends and family, which included taking my deceased Mother's property from the care home. Funeral plans are in progress.
