This 'supernatural' event is more straightforward than the BC Recovery Benefit

This 'supernatural' event is more straightforward than the hours it takes for many residents of British Columbia to receive their BC Recovery Benefit.

A number of applicants who got through online or by phone since applications opened on Friday have received an email asking them to submit four more documents to prove their identity: a copy of their full 2019 tax return notice of assessment, their personal ID and two bills — such as a phone or utility bill.

Guess who?

(FYI, I do believe in the historical, Hebrew Bible, Job account)

The Far Side of Reasoning?

The Far Side of Reasoning?

NHL promises to crack down on abusive coaches. It's about time.

On Monday, the NHL announced it was finally doing something about the culture that has allowed Babcock — and a handful of other coaches — to berate and humiliate players in the name of coaching.

It's about time. “The world is changing for the better,” Bettman said in a statement. “This is an opportunity, and a moment, for positive change and this evolution should be expedited — for the benefit of everyone associated with the game we love. And even while change is taking effect, we still must acknowledge things that were wrong in the past.”

The world is changing for the better...

Those discussions came after several stories surfaced detailing various kinds of abusive behavior by a handful of coaches, including Babcock, who was fired by the Toronto Maple Leafs last month for poor performance. After Babcock was let go, some of his former players in Detroit and Toronto came forward with a series of allegations of manipulative coaching tactics. Hall of Fame defenseman and former Red Wing Chris Chelios told Barstool Sports' Spittin’ Chiclets podcast that Babcock had verbally assaulted former Red Wings forward Johan Franzen during Game 5 of the Wings' 2012 playoff series against Nashville.

Much of the secular media and sports media, and many on social media, I gather, rightly in my humble opinion, supported the idea that verbal (and other) abuse of National Hockey League (and other league) players was (is) morally and ethically wrong.

Preface

Now to be clear, philosophically I agree in following and obeying, reasonable, scientific, medical and government measures to deal with the COVID19 pandemic. Biblically and theologically the same as I as a Christian am to obey the state in civil and legal matters, as long as I am not directed to reject Christian faith and philosophy (Romans 13, 1 Peter 2).

Tom Cruise Yelled at 'Mission: Impossible' Crew for Not Following Covid-19 Rules. But is He Really a Hero?

Tom Cruise's outburst after he spotted two crew members flouting social distancing norms in the set of Mission Impossible 7, left at least 50 members of the Warner Bros Studio at Leavesden, UK stunned.

The Hollywood star's outburst was after he spotted two crew members standing within a two-meter distance-- it eventually left at least 50 members of the Warner Bros Studio at Leavesden, UK stunned.

"We are the gold standard," Cruise can be heard yelling, "They’re back there in Hollywood making movies right now because of us. I’m on the phone with every f—ing studio at night, insurance companies, producers and they’re looking at us and using us to make their movies. We are creating thousands of jobs, you motherf—ers. I don’t ever want to see it again. Ever!"

Cruise went on to threaten their job security and shouted, "Do you understand the responsibility that you have? Because I will deal with your reason. And if you can’t be reasonable and I can’t deal with your logic, you’re fired," according to the tape.

Bellowing more he said that he would not shut the "f—ing movie down" and if he saw someone flouting the covid norms again, he would have them straight up fired!

It seems to me many in the secular media and on social media, basically stated (paraphrased): 'Well-done, Tom, I wish more people would talk that way!' (Paraphrased) 'Good for you, Tom!'

However, all said and done well, Cruise's fury has also raised an eyebrow towards his rant, which has been deemed bullying and this loathing temperament has been linked to him being a top-ranked Scientologist.

Many on social media disapproved of Cruise's way of threatening and behaving with his subordinates and pointed out how there's always a better way to deal with a difficult situation.

A better way, much agreed. Something, I have not always done, especially in my childhood and younger adult years.

Citations continued

Cruise is a strong crusader of Church of Scientology and a report by the Daily Beast alleges that star's behavorial pattern could be influenced by his organization, which has allegedly implemented forced abortions and widespread abuses, both corporal and psychological.

End citations

I am not going to cite or endorse the written opines within the article in regards to Mr. Cruise personally.

Biblically, verbal abuse is sinful. It is an example of failing to love one's neighbour as one loves self (Mathew 22, Mark 12, Luke 10).

As well, biblically, verbal abuse is evil, cursing human beings made in the image and likeness of God (Genesis 1: 26-27).

James 3: 7-10 English Standard Version (ESV)

7 For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and sea creature, can be tamed and has been tamed by mankind, 8 but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. 9 With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse people who are made in the likeness of God. 10 From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers,[c] these things ought not to be so.

c. James 3:10 Or brothers and sisters; also verse 12

Compliance to reasonable COVID19 pandemic government rules is moral and ethical.

(I acknowledge that in some limited cases these government rules can be questioned for their reasonableness as moral and ethical)

However:

Biblical standards on treating human beings are moral and ethical.

(These are in agreement with many modern secular standards)

Therefore:

Verbal abuse in the workplace is immoral and unethical in both the hockey business and the film business.

A biblical studies/theology rough equivalent...

'Doesn't the bible say not to judge?''

Saturday, March 09, 2019: First Corinthians 6: The People's Court? (Briefly)

Cited

The New American Standard Bible

First Corinthians 6: 1-8

Does any one of you, when he has a case against his neighbor, dare to go to law before the unrighteous and not before the saints? 2 Or do you not know that the saints will judge the world? If the world is judged by you, are you not competent to constitute the smallest law courts? 3 Do you not know that we will judge angels? How much more matters of this life? 4 So if you have law courts dealing with matters of this life, do you appoint them as judges who are of no account in the church? 5 I say this to your shame. Is it so, that there is not among you one wise man who will be able to decide between his brethren, 6 but brother goes to law with brother, and that before unbelievers? 7 Actually, then, it is already a defeat for you, that you have lawsuits with one another. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be defrauded? 8 On the contrary, you yourselves wrong and defraud. You do this even to your brethren.

Courson opines that the Corinthians, and by implication, the Universal Church, was to judge themselves. Courson (2005: 1037).

There was also an aspect here of suffering loss for the sake of the gospel. Courson connects it to what Jesus Christ stated in regard to turning the other cheek in Mathew 5.

In other words, applying the Gospel for disciples, is to apply Gospel morality, ethics and theology to disputes as opposed to seeking, as alternative, civil law and secular law. This is in the context of disputes. I am not implying here that I theologically, favour a form of Christian theocracy (rule) or theonomy (law) in this realm...

I absolutely do not.

4 βιωτικὰ μὲν οὖν κριτήρια In this life indeed therefore a law court...

But, yes, final judgement of humanity, post-mortem is up to God. Please see Revelation 20, and 21-22, perhaps universally for humanity (Mounce, 364-365),  perhaps the unregenerate only; and also 2 Corinthians 5: 10 for those who believe in Jesus Christ.
