Sometimes I think people are burning bridges, when they should be learning more about construction...Audio

Vancouver pre-storm: August 28, 2015

Second version with edited colours which is closer to what I actually viewed.

There was no electric power for hours today, August 29th, and apparently 200, 000 people in Metro Vancouver and 440, 000 in British Columbia were without power during the storm.

It continues, but more quietly at present.

Sometimes I think people are burning bridges, when they should be learning more about construction...

Matthew 7

English Standard Version (ESV)

7 “Judge not, that you be not judged.
2 For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you.
3 Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?
4 Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye?
5 You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye.
6 “Do not give dogs what is holy, and do not throw your pearls before pigs, lest they trample them underfoot and turn to attack you.

Time to go out now as the storm is calmed somewhat...

$2.99 For The Meaning Of Life (Short Review Of Satirical Film)

1983/2003

Admittedly, this CD that I bought at the same time, will get more use.

I continue with my conservative and frugal 'big spending' ways in regard to late night, early morning entrainment while exercising, and I have a short satirical review of this satirical film and DVD as a result...

When I state there are 'contradictions'/supposed contradictions in light of supposed reasons for many to hold to agnosticism in Western society, I am acknowledging, Biblical difficulties. I hold to Biblical inerrancy in the original documents/autographs, not the thousands of copies which adequately and reasonably present God's word without theological changes to primary doctrines and dogma. Biblical difficulties can arise from the various Greek manuscripts (Hebrew Bible manuscripts late add), copying errors from scribes and different translations. I do not reason there is error is the transmission from God, the Holy Spirit to Biblical authors.

Rebuilding Friendships

From Google+ & Earth The Incredible Planet

August 13, 2015

There are some good ideas provided in the sermon above.

I have held to the view that in a conflict I should repent and ask forgiveness, even if I do not reason I am primarily at fault.

There are Biblical calls to forgive and also to be at peace with all persons as much as it is up to you (Romans 12).

There is also the Biblical understanding that in this realm all persons have a sinful nature (Romans). There is a taint of sin in all human actions, therefore arguably there is rarely complete innocence by one party in a conflict.

A violent assault upon a person, in some cases, would be the closest I would view as complete innocence by a victim.

From the sermon these were some points provided that caused damaged or ended friendships

Selfishness
Manipulation/Control
Jealousy
Criticism
Explosions of anger
Disloyalty
Dishonesty
Being too Busy

Solutions provided from the sermon

Deal with the problems and the person
Determine what happened
Apologize (Repent, my add)
Show love
Refuse to defend self
Attempt to repair friendship
Commit to rebuild friendship

Questions provided from sermon

Was defensiveness a cause of a damaged or ended friendship?
Was fear an issue?

Strange Maps, Strange Story

Divorce rates: From time.com-I am surprised the United States is not in the highest category according to these statistics. Spain  and company wins...

Strange Story

As some readers will know, especially the Blogger/Facebook blog followers, I work in corporate security full-time during the week, as well as with blogging.

On the weekends primarily, I homecare for my disabled and deaf Mother. I live in the upstairs section of the condominium and she resides downstairs and I mainly see her on the weekends.

Having completed my financially restructuring and moved onto better days, I also assist my Mother with financial issues.

She recently, while we were discussing business, stated once again, as she has for many months, that she hears music in her head at 'five' and that it comes from the neighbours to our north that recently moved in to the apartment.

I stated that she had heard the music in her head prior to the new owners moving in. I had never heard any music from these owners or when the condominium was empty for several years.

I assumed that it was only in her head.

The previous owner from several years ago did at times play loud dance music, but she had departed for the United States years ago and decided to default on her mortgage payments, but that is another story. This allowed her bank and the strata to leave 'Donald Trumpish' like warning letters on her door, for all to see, for several months.

I assured my Mother (aka The Boss) that as my desk and office, near a wall, was right next to that north apartment, I had never heard this music, nor had any healthcare worker that Mother had asked.

Mother then clarified and stated for the the first time after months (sigh) of this debacle that she heard the music at five am.

I had assumed for months in my finitude as she was virtually deaf without her hearing aids, and she only wears one 'aid' (sigh) that it would be highly unlikely she could hear anything in bed at five am without her 'aids'. And she is on the south side of the condominium.

I have spoken loudly beside her with her hearing aids off, as a test, and she could not hear me.

At five pm, besides maybe on Saturday a Sunday, I am not upstairs and not in the apartment. I work at that time during the week. My computer is not on.

However, when I go to bed in the early morning, all through most mornings I either play via iTunes rock, jazz and classical alternating mixes to assist my sleep, or I listen to online preaching or other audio teaching.

Sometimes I even listen to Bob Ross, which works very-well as a sleep aid.

No, I do listen to my own audio teaching (and learning). That would be far too boring and sort of stupid, but hopefully only for me.

I then stated to Mother that perhaps she can hear my music or audio that runs from my laptop through quality speakers at about 3 am to 11: 30 am most days.

Eventually we agreed that was the case.

Strange story that neither one of us thought of that as an answer, but I assumed that it was just all in her head...

Ejector Bed

Proverbs 20: 13

English Standard Version

Love not sleep, lest you come to poverty; open your eyes, and you will have plenty of bread.

New American Standard Bible

Do not love sleep, or you will become poor; Open your eyes, and you will be satisfied with food.

King James Bible

Love not sleep, lest thou come to poverty; open thine eyes, and thou shalt be satisfied with bread.

This ejector bed

Not Recommended For Those With Sleep Apnea

Not Recommenced For Those With Insomnia

Another option is not have an ejector system, but simply apply high voltage after the alarm stops.

That would provide plenty of motivation to arise.

Psychological Tendencies: Audio

Google+

Preface

The other night after work I came home and watched 'The Exchange' on the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. It is a business program.

Gretchen Rubin, that was a new writer to me, was interviewed and she discussed human nature and habits. Her website offers a tendencies test, which I took and it seems somewhat insightful in regard to me.

I will post and then discuss briefly on audio. My comments in bold.

'In a nutshell:

Upholders respond readily to outer and inner expectations

Questioners question all expectations; they’ll meet an expectation if they think it makes sense

Rebels resist all expectations, outer and inner alike

Obligers meet outer expectations, but struggle to meet expectations they impose on themselves'

------

According to your answers, your dominant Tendency is Questioner.

Questioners question all expectations, and will meet an expectation only if they believe it’s justified, so in effect, they meet only inner expectations.

This is does not mean a questioner only cares about her/his own needs, I reason. The needs of others can still be met but it is more of a focus on meeting those needs through meeting inner expectations as opposed to meeting outer expectations.

In other words, I do not reason that a questioner is necessarily more selfish than an upholder.

Once Questioners believe that a particular habit is worthwhile, they’ll stick to it—but only if they’re satisfied about the habit’s soundness and usefulness.

They resist anything arbitrary or ineffective; they accept direction only from people they respect.

Reasonable.

Questioners may exhaust themselves (and other people) with their relentless questioning, and they sometimes find it hard to act without perfect information.

I have had to learn to accept very good/excellent as opposed to near perfect.

If you’re thinking, “Well, right now I question the validity of the Four Tendencies framework,” yep, you’re probably a Questioner!
