Time Travel Via Facebook: Aberystwyth & Cardiff

Aberystwyth was a stop on my train with bus journey to the University of Wales, Trinity Saint David, Lampeter campus. The trip had beautiful greenery and scenery.  Seems to me I took the bus from Aberystwyth to Lampeter, at least once. Very nice area, but very isolated and rural.

Time Travel Via Facebook: Edinburgh & London

Edinburgh Castle: Summer 1995. The trip that increased my interest in potential future PhD study in the United Kingdom. The University of Edinburgh was a possibility based on my 1997 visit, but it did not work out. In the end, I am pleased to have studied through the University of Wales, at the time, the second largest University system in the United Kingdom. The University of Wales, Trinity Saint David, where I earned my PhD, now has its own system.

Clue: The building manager with his belt undone...

Add caption

At about 7 pm, just over an hour ago, the building fire alarm went off.

I yell at my Mother, the Boss, in the downstairs section of the condominium to 'Get up!'

She wanted to stay put. Predictable based on fire drills in the past.

I live in the loft section, upstairs, but I have to keep an eye on her with my homecaring duties. As I figured as she always stalls on fire drills, she could not hear the alarm and did not want to get up.

Next she provided a variety of excuses for not getting up, including not being fashionable enough.

I reasoned because of time of night, it was not a fire drill. Our fire drills in the past have been documented and during the day.

I quickly checked the common area hall, I viewed my friend, the building manager and strata president, hurried, walking around with his belt undone. The hall seemed possibly smokey.

I had to keep pushing 'The Boss'  to get up, and she kept delaying. I managed to get her to the common area stairs with her walker and then was informed by fire wardens that the smoke alarm triggered from a new owner's apartment had ended and we could go back to our condominium. Two firemen passed us as they were walking up the stairs.

Our neighbour, a former maternity ward head nurse told me for the future, to buy a wrap to place around the Boss next time, as the Boss, will always fight, states the nurse.

That will be a thrill.

The next option, suggested by the kind neighbour-nurse, and one I likely will go with is to put Mother in her wheelchair and I was told by the nurse to strap the Boss in.

The nurse suggested I tie Mother in with a sweater.

Could I use tape? ;)

That will be a thrill...

I have told the Boss...

'Look I am not dying in a fire because of you, and if I have to, even though you will be in excruciating pain (with her serious arthritis and joint issues) I will throw you over my shoulders if I have to.'

I have to take her over a set of stairs. Thankfully, a male fire warden has offered to assist with lifting Mother next time. The Boss is not heavy, but it will be quicker and more efficient if two men carry the Boss.

Yesterday, the trees were swaying like...

Yesterday: Vancouver Police Twitter

Yesterday, the trees were swaying like people at a charismatic church service.
