Excellent match, crazy day

Pre-match

Jason driving us...

On the way to match...

Delayed in traffic due to emergency vehicles.

Late for match, then it it took a long time to find any parking, as the usual places were full.

The game

Excellent match and Davies scored two thrilling goals, his next game will be for Bayern Munich.

Post-match

After match there was some kind of incident (problem with parking gates?) and we were stuck inside the parkade for over one hour.

We ended up having an additional meal while waiting as we walked downtown.

We eventually drove to his house and we parted ways.

On the drive home, my car battery died and BCAA would not answer from either of the two numbers I called from my mobile.

Jason drove my way and assisted and tried to boost my SUV, but no good, so he drove me home.

I just paid an associate of BCAA that actually answered the phone to take my SUV to my mechanic for tomorrow.

The SUV had been stuck, parked in a bus lane as I had wisely pulled off the Lougheed Highway!

I did not want my vehicle impounded by the RCMP! It was by Ridge-Meadows Hospital.

When there is water in the middle of the floor during a fire?

This just happened:

@work in Vancouver

Man (a colourful character, let us state) wearing a reflector vest pops head through the door and basically yells.

Paraphrased:

Man: What do you do here?

Me: We are the 'name my employer'...

Man: What do you do here?

Me: We are the 'name of my employer', we provide bibles.

Man: What do you do when there is a fire?

I walk towards him because he is quite loud.

Me: We call the fire department.

Man: What do you do when there is water in the middle of the floor where there is a fire?

Me: (Ending this) I have no idea.

Man departs...

Two NHL Canadian teams on US national television, first time ever regular season?

While at ministry work at my home office, I was also watching Prime Time Sports on Sportsnet and Mr. McCown stated, and had checked (paraphrased) that the game documented above will be the first regular season, National Hockey League game ever shown on American national television featuring two Canadian clubs. It will be on NBCSN. In other words, if this is correct, in the 100+ plus year history of the National Hockey League, the last half having significant television, this is the first non-playoff game.

NBCSN Maple Leafs vs. Jets Hockey Wed 4pm PDT

Imagine that, a blue maple leaf versus a red maple leaf. I will refrain from a cultural critique, but philosophically, it is beneficial to embrace the good from foreign cultures.

I will now finish, as I need to make dinner for myself and the Boss and watch the World Series, Los Angeles Dodgers @ Boston Red Sox. I am not a baseball fan, per say, but have been hoping for this match-up for years.

Wait a minute...is neither club Canadian???

Anonymous Weekend Bizarre

Maple Ridge: Last week

This last weekend

(Paraphrased) We are late night dining with a group.

Dr. Russ: So, (friend), how many times a week do you go out for a meal?

Anonymous: About five times.

Anonymous: For years it used to be about fifteen times a week, but I have now cut back for health concerns.

Recently similar paraphrased conversations with this Anonymous and another Anonymous, repeated several times.

Paraphrased 2 Anonymous: Why don't you lock down (friend) for dating and marriage.

Dr. Russ: There is a long (fatal) list...

I do not have significant romantic attraction to her.

She is ageist.

She is in obsessively in love with a friend.

She thinks she is in a looks class above me.

(Something I and the 2 Anonymous deny)

She is anti-Reformed theology, not just non-Reformed theology, on several key points.

She mainly calls me for information in regard to our mutual friend that she is obsessively in love with.

She is liberal and I am a moderate conservative.

There are many other women I would prefer.

Paraphrased 2 Anonymous: Well, don't close the door.

Dr. Russ: The door has never been opened or slammed shut. It is shut.

Dr. Russ: These are fatal problems. I am interested in someone that actually has a spiritual, intellectual, physical mutual attraction with me and prayerfully considers and ponders on it.

Dr. Russ: Say you 2 Anonymous, why do you not pursue her?

2 Anonymous: (Both state similar reasons as me)

Vancouver, Saturday

I voted for all the male candidates, just as (wife) told me to.

You walk wrong! (Nasty nails!)

Just after...today

It is a day off from work, but I had a previously made ministry appointment, before work hours changed, in downtown Maple Ridge that I walked to, this afternoon.

On the way back (see photo of the mighty Fraser), a kindly older, Asian, gentleman walked aggressively beside me to my right, and stated:

You walk wrong!'

(Paraphrased) Gentleman:

'You are like me, you walk with your feet facing out'.

Gentleman: 'The way we walk, we will have pain, I want to change how I walk!'

Me: 'I have walked long distances much in my life, and recently walked about eight hours in two days, in Utah.'  (Probably more like ten hours, thinking about it).

Me: 'There was no pain.'

Me: 'But, sir next time we meet, let me know what you learn, thanks.'

Gentleman: 'Yes.'
---

I later thought about it and reasoned that: I had done much walking locally, prior to my Utah trip and did develop a leg cramp in Salt Lake City, but there is no permanent damage I can see or feel and it has now healed.

I have had most of my toenails removed over the years but in order this is possibly due to...

1) Ingrown toenails and surgical repairs, taking their toll.

2) Years of running with ball hockey. Toenails would fall off after ball hockey!

3 With martial arts training, kicking punching bags, in my teens and twenties (years of age), I am now more effectively for self-defence with martial arts, working with weapons.

4) Long walks living locally, as well as walking in Manchester, England, and touring and walking in the British Isles, Europe and America.

I would tentatively consider walking a fourth cause of my toenail issues, but I do not reason toenails issues were caused by poor walking technique. I tried walking with my feet and knees closer together, as the kind gentleman suggested, and that was very unconformable and would become painful!

Stolen Bible as witness?/Attitude over Intelligence?

Interesting Facebook post from my employer. I have heard the premise that having one's bible stolen is a good witness...

Do not eat meat that has white bubbles...

Snipping Tool image

Thanks, Arne, for posting.

Years ago my brother visited me at the condominium here, to see the Boss, while I was in a life phase where I was spending many hours looking for employment...

My reasons for writing academic websites are multi-purpose. These include, personal spiritual and academic development, career promotion and of course ministry. When discussing online posts, I informed my brother that I intentionally minimized political writing and he replied that as he was promoting his business, he limited political posts as well, and that I was wise to do likewise. His comments were wise.

In light of various New Testament, biblical commands (examples) to love one's neighbour (Matthew 22, Mark 12), love your enemy (Matthew 5, Luke 6), love others in Christ (Gospel of John, 1 John) and to make disciplines (Matthew 28); Some of the President Trump political discussions are quite polarizing within the Christian Church.

I know professing Christians that are both on the liberal side and the conservative side, taking very aggressive stances. I embrace their liberty to do so in our Western democracies. But, I sense that some of my liberal friends doubt the Christianity of my conservative Christian friends and that some of my conservative Christian friends doubt the Christianity of more liberal Christian friends. I have my political leanings, as a moderate conservative, but as humanity is universally sinful (Romans 1-6), I am far more interested in dogmatic theology and doctrine, than dogmatic politics.

Each political party and movement, as is everything human, is significantly tainted by sin, and this also effects views expressed. This requires careful, objective, non-heated evaluations.

(As with academic work)

22 commandments?

Girlfriend's 'controlling' list of 22 rules for boyfriend goes viral: 'She sounds crazy'

By Michelle Gant | Fox News

Thank you to Mr. James Lee (no relation to Geddy) for posting this article.

The list was first shared on Twitter by a guy who found it in a used car he had purchased, but he then deleted it because people thought it was his own girlfriend who had made it and she was being harassed, according to The Daily Mirror.

"She sounds crazy but it also sounds like he cheated and she took him back,” someone commented.

Okay, well, my readers will realize I hold to biblical standards of loving neighbor as I love myself (Matthew 22, Mark 12); to show a purposed love to all persons, and to love both male and female in Jesus Christ, in the Gospel within the Christian Church (Gospel of John, I John).

Examples of the 22 commandments

If I say jump you say “how high princess”

You are to make sure you tell me you love me once a day at least so I know you’re not messing around

You are to NEVER take longer than 10 mins to text me back.

---

I righteously, by the grace of God, complain about the ageism within the Christian Church, toward older, youthful men that are capable of procreation and the younger women that may have potential mutual attraction, that by social default, shun them. I complain this risks these younger women being within God's permissible will and not God's perfect will...

But is this case, deducing this is a young woman that is significantly younger than me, if we ever met, I would appreciate it if she just looked right through me as if I did not exist!

Not stating the man is any prize, either...(for those inclined that way).

Sara Khan, Manchester University’s liberation and access officer, argued that traditional applause was not sufficiently 'accessible.' Whooping is also discouraged
---

I have personally, never liked whooping, in its various formats, including whooping people up at church or ministry meetings. However, I am also, in the context of western society, not interested in having authorities limit reasonable expression. In other words, I do not support rules on 'how to applaud'. I can support applause within the context of law and order. Rules are not required as long as law and order is maintained.

LONDON — Clapping has been replaced with “jazz hands” at a British student union amid fears that the noise of applause could trigger anxiety among some students.

Whooping is also discouraged at Manchester University student union events on the basis that the loud noise may be a problem for those with sensory issues.

The use of “jazz hands” — where students wave their hands in the air — is the British Sign Language expression for applause and is deemed a more inclusive gesture.

At the union’s first meeting of the year, Sara Khan, who is Manchester University’s liberation and access officer, argued that traditional applause was not sufficiently “accessible.”

The union resolved to ban clapping in favour of “jazz hands,” and urged “student groups and societies to do the same.”

The students’ union also plans to make “BSL clapping” part of inclusion training for new students.

The union noted that “loud noises, including whooping and traditional applause, could pose an issue for students with disabilities, such as those with anxiety or sensory issues.”

Jazz hands should be favoured at debates, panels and talks as well as at meetings of the student senate, it said. Students who whoop, cheer and clap should face 'consequences'
---

I am personality wise, more on the quiet side, but for the sake of liberty, I am willing to experience louder applause from others.

Those with disabilities which prohibit typical applause, can choose to do other, or not applause at all.

I do not always applause in a public setting, just because the majority do, but I support these kinds of liberties being maintained in western democracies.

“Jazz hands” were adopted by the National Union of Students (NUS) in 2015 on the basis that clapping “triggers anxiety.”

Delegates at last year’s NUS conference said that students who whoop, cheer and clap should face “consequences.”

Audience members were repeatedly warned that they must cease whooping to express support for a speaker because it had a “serious impact” on the accessibility of the conference for disabled students.

Critics of the move say that such behaviour is typical of an over-sensitive “snowflake generation” of students who are quick to take offence. Last year it emerged that Oxford University’s equality and diversity unit had issued guidance to students advising them that those who avoided making eye contact with their peers could be guilty of racism.
---

This is over-sensitivity and again risks the negation of personal liberty.

The University of Glasgow started issuing “trigger warnings” for theology students studying the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, whereby students would be told in advance that they may see distressing images and would be given the opportunity to leave the room.
---

In contrast, a reasonable biblical, Christian theological stance would be that those adults of a sound mind, should be able to study the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Reasons for his terrible death should be considered as should be the theologically related atonement and resurrection, the fall, human sin, and salvation for those that are regenerated (Titus 3) and accept the gospel. Theology of an eventual restored creation (Revelation) should be studied.

Titus 3

English Standard Version

4 But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, 5 he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, 6 whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

Union officer Sara Khan said traditional clapping can cause issues for students with autism, sensory issues or deafness. But the move was criticised by some who accused students of being "pampered". Under the new measures, BSL clapping will be used at student events such as debates, panels and talks. Student groups and societies will also be encouraged to move away from audible clapping.

I just viewed this ridiculous advertisement

Home from work, I made myself dinner. Watching part of Monday Night Football, the Denver Flamboyant Orange Horses versus the Kansas City Indigenous, this advertisement, for this quite possibly ridiculous game, was showed. Driving up a human pulse? I am thinking, 'What about the accumulated sweaty, smelly, goofing looking head-band?' Not to mention the bizarre vertical head-gear...
