Forbes 2016: Most Valuable UEFA Football Clubs

Real Madrid: You Tube

Once again I seriously, satirically, review a Forbes sports club list.

Forbes 2016: Most Valuable UEFA Football Clubs

Forbes 2017

US Dollars

1. Real Madrid

3.65 Billion: Value
694 Million: Revenue
162 Million: Operating Income

I think the revenue might be a more impressive figure than the club value. The current UEFA Champions League Champions, and eleven time winners, continually provide a first-rate product. Once again in 2017, Real Madrid are among the favourites to win the UEFA Champions League.

The Toronto Maple Leafs and Vancouver Canucks of the National Hockey should take notes. Notes on the winning Real formula, not just winning more bank notes.

Note:

It appears Toronto has turned over a new and more winning Leaf.

As per usual, Phony Madrid, also known as Fake Madrid, is not doing as well as Real.
Fake Madrid: Facebook

Phony/Fake Madrid

$365.00: Value (The kits)
A dozen Taco Bell, 2 for 1 coupons: Revenue
Several knee operations: Operating Cost

Phony/Fake Madrid are stuck in the bottom level of Spanish football, sort of like bad football phony karma. However, they still play in front of larger crowds than do the Carolina Hurricanes and Florida Panthers of the National Hockey League.

Another problem facing Phony/Fake Madrid are the constant media rumours of the club being relocated to Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Seattle, Portland, Quebec City and Markham. The club is not supporter owned as no one will claim public responsibility. It is secret ownership.

2. Barcelona

3.56 Billion: Value
675 Million: Revenue
108 Million: Operating Income

Real Madrid is slightly 'fatter' in the financial department than FC Barcelona, and FC Barcelona is significantly 'fatter' in the logo department than Real Madrid. In European football, 1970s nostalgia can succeed! This shows that a club can get away with a fata** logo if it has players like Lionel Messi on it.

As with its thinner logo cousin, Barcelona are once again contenders for the Europe title, although Barcelona is scoring and conceding many goals.

3. Manchester United

3.32 Billion: Value
625 Million: Revenue
190 Million: Operating Income

Interestingly, Manchester United has a higher operating income than the 'two Spanish giants.' Progress is being made, but they still lack some offensive punch. Speaking of which, while football touring, my good friend 'Si P', stated that touring in the United Kingdom was no problem, as over the years he had only been punched in the head twice...

Note:

To my dear friend 'Si P', that by colonial, North American standards, that would not be 'kool' baby. But, granted we have not had as many wars in North America as in Europe, so perhaps we are not as sensitized to violence. Although, Vancouver has had those Stanley Cup loser riots (1994 and 2011).

4. Bayern Munich

2.68 Billion: Value
570 Million: Revenue
60 Million: Operating Income

I support, on a club level, Arsenal, Manchester United (season ticket holder for both when I lived in England) and Bayern Munich, that I viewed live once. At present, Bayern Munich is the most interestingly to watch and follow. Thankfully my 'newish' Telus cable has some channels that show the occasional Bayern Munich, Bundesliga (Federal league) match.

For some of you Americans reading, Bundesliga does not mean, 'Beer League'. Sorry.

5. Arsenal

2.02 Billion: Value
525 Million: Revenue
122 Million: Operating Income

As it is obvious Arsenal need to hire a better manager with some reasonable championship level 2017 football tactics; perhaps the clubs lacks the funds? Is a PBS like telethon in order? The Knowledge Network here in British Columbia have them too...

How long can Chuck survive on each planet?

The Moon

'Unfortunately, Earth’s moon has uninhabitable temperatures. The temperature ranges from -160°C to +120°C, and the surface pressure is around 3 x 10^-15 bar. The atmosphere is extremely thin, and is composed of Helium, Neon, and some other unusual gases, including sodium and potassium, which are not found in Earth’s atmosphere. Ebullism and lack of oxygen would inevitably kill you, so without a suit, a person could survive for about 3 minutes.'

This is not looking good for Saint Chucklins... Mennonite Chuck would become a Moonie.

Suns

'The temperature at the surface of the Sun is about 10,000 Fahrenheit (5,600 Celsius). The temperature rises from the surface of the Sun inward towards the very hot center of the Sun where it reaches about 27,000,000 Fahrenheit (15,000,000 Celsius). The temperature of the Sun also rises from the surface outward into the Solar atmosphere. The uppermost layer of the Solar atmosphere, called the corona, reaches temperatures of millions of degrees. The corona is the bright halo of light that can be seen during a total Solar eclipse.'

'These are stars with more than 100 times the mass of the Sun. One of the best known examples is Eta Carinae, located about 7,500 light-years from the Sun. Eta Carinae could be as large as 180 times the radius of the Sun, and its surface temperature is 36,000-40,000 Kelvin. Just for comparison, 40,000 Kelvin is about 72,000 degrees F. So it’s the blue hypergiants, like Eta Carinae, which are probably the hottest stars in the Universe.'

Chuck as one of the whitest men on this planet, would quickly become hot air.

Space

'At most, an astronaut without a suit would last about 15 seconds before losing consciousness (my fix) from lack of oxygen. (That's how long it would take the body to use up the oxygen left in the blood.) Of course, on Earth, you could hold your breath for several minutes without passing out. But that's not going to help in a vacuum. In fact, attempting to hold your breath is a sure way to a quick death. To make it for even a few seconds, Sunshine's Mace must have expelled the air from his lungs before he ventured into the starry void. If he hadn't, the vacuum would have caused that oxygen to expand and rupture his lung tissue, forcing fatal air bubbles into his blood vessels, and ultimately his heart and brain. Scuba divers are also at risk for air embolism; they're instructed not to hold their breath as they ascend from the deep sea.'

Chuck, this is not a libertarian, vacation, destination. The air has been taken out of the market. Hopefully, Chuck would get some space vacuuming done in the meantime. Be green Chuck, be green.

Playing The Game By The Rules

You Tube

I am often a man that looks to better my possibilities in life by not following the rules. By not playing 'the game' within the rules.

If I was challenged in a fight, I would show no interest, but if I did fight, I would not play the game by rules, but within the laws of the land, of course. Decades of martial arts training, including courses from an online mixed martial arts trainer have brought me to such a view.

From a New Testament, gospel perspective, in dealing with God, the infinite, eternal, omnipotent, omniscient God (Revelation 22: the alpha and omega, the beginning and the last); there is no other way than following the rules.

God cannot be outmaneuvered or outsmarted.

The game is played within divine rules as in the atonement and resurrection work of Jesus Christ and his imputed righteousness provided to believers by grace by through faith, not by works, but for good works (Ephesians 2), or one is outside of God's Kingdom everlastingly.

Excellent, but not as interesting as a fat guy Tower of Babel

Genesis 11:1-9 King James Version (KJV)

11 And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech. 2 And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there. 3 And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them thoroughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter. 4 And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth. 5 And the Lord came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded. 6 And the Lord said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do. 7 Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech. 8 So the Lord scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city. 9 Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the Lord did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the Lord scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.

Twenty-Three Inch Arms?

Marvel

At Northview Community Church, this afternoon, my friend Kelly Burchert suggested, perhaps satirically (?) that I have 23 inch arms due to my (paraphrased) massive muscle frame. Twenty-three inches is doubtful as true, but thank you for that blessing my friend!

P.S. Kelly, obviously, like me, you are not politically correct as you did not use metric. This is Canada, eh...

The Inner Mounting Thug?

This made me laugh...I have to admit I thought Billy Cobham too, as in drumming style, but not as in the bad a** thug.

Quote:

'Dirty Harry is pretty easily my favorite movie and I have the soundtrack on CD in my car as I type this! ...There are few films whose score is as critical to the picture as this one. For a long time, I wondered if Billy Cobham played drums on it. In fact, the first time I saw the guy who Scorpio pays to beat him up, I did a double-take thinking it might be Billy! (It's not).' End quote.

The Inner Mounting Flame was released the same year as Dirty Harry, 1971.

'Commissioner Garry Bettman was in southern Manitoba on Wednesday to announce the expansion of the NHL to Las Vegas, Nevada and also to the tiny Mennonite village of Neubergthal, just south of Altona.'

'“We figure they have a similar size fan base of hockey fans. Neubergthal has a population of just under a hundred people and, assuming they’re all hockey fans, means the franchise should outdraw the Las Vegas team by about thirty people per game,” explained Bettman standing in front of the Friesen Barn.'

'Bettman also announced plans for teams in Mumbai, Nairobi, Guatemala City, and a Labrador ghost town, all of which are seen to be the perfect fit for the NHL as they are estimated to have similar fan base to the southern US locales he seems to fetishize.

“Quebec City will never get a team,” explained Bettman. “Too many real hockey fans there.”'

Russ Murray The Mennonite community is an underdeveloped NHL market. I suggest the 'Manitoba Mennonite Martyrs' for a name.

Porn hoarder dies with his collection?

Fraghero.com

Gizmodo March 6 by Matt Novak

I heard an online pastor tell this story in his most recent sermon.

With a little research, it is interesting how the story appears to have been exaggerated for online marketing purposes.

Thankfully, I have no pornography collection, on or offline. I could die with academic texts?

1 Corinthians 6:18-20 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

18 Flee immorality. Every other sin that a man commits is outside the body, but the [a]immoral man sins against his own body. 19 Or do you not know that your body is a [b]temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from [c]God, and that you are not your own? 20 For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body.

This message is to Christians, but also contains universal truth in regard to sexual sin, in verse 18.

'That Viral Story About a Japanese Man Crushed to Death by His Porn Collection is Totally Fake'

Cited

'Did a man in Japan really get crushed to death by his porn collection? No. But you’d be forgiven for thinking otherwise, thanks to this dumb game of Telephone we call The Internet. “Porn really is bad for you!” the Daily Mail headline blares. “Lonely Japanese man who amassed a SIX-TON pile of dirty magazines died when it collapsed on top of him... and his body wasn’t found for six months."

But almost nothing about that headline is correct. The Daily Mail seems to have taken a sad story of a man’s death in Japan and added a few lies to make it more sensational. And from there it went viral, getting picked up by the likes of The Mirror, The Toronto Sun, CBS Philly, and Sky News Australia, among a host of others.

So what really happened? Recently a Japanese man was found dead in his apartment. The man lived alone and had been dead for a month before he was discovered. The coroner ruled that he’d died of a heart attack. How do we know the real story? It was reported in Nikkan Spa in Japan on February 28, 2017. The Daily Mail story was published on March 3rd, 2017. The Daily Mail story doesn’t link out to Nikkan Spa, or acknowledge at all where its information came from. The average reader would assume that all the information presented in the Daily Mail story was collected by the Daily Mail alone. It appears that nothing in the Daily Mail’s version contains original reporting, aside from the sensationalist errors that it introduced.'

Cited

'Yes, the man had a huge porn collection. But there’s absolutely no evidence that he died from it falling on top of him, nor that he’d been dead for six months. In fact, the most gruesome bit of evidence from the original story in Japan points to the fact that he fell on top of his porn collection during his heart attack.'

Cited

'The man was clearly a hoarder of porn magazines. And he died of a heart attack amongst his hoard or porn. But he wasn’t crushed by it. I guess “Hoarder dies surrounded by porn” is a less clicky headline than “OMG MAN LITERALLY DIES CRUSHED BY 6 TONNES OF PORN.”'

Rights v Right

Pinterest

Proverbs 27:6 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

6 Faithful are the wounds of a friend, But [a]deceitful are the kisses of an enemy.

Proverbs 27:6 English Standard Version (ESV)

6 Faithful are the wounds of a friend; profuse are the kisses of an enemy.

Proverbs 27:6 King James Version (KJV)

6 Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.

Internship Pastor John gave a good sermon on biblical friendship at Northview Community Church, tonight. He wisely stated (paraphrased) that our modern western society reverses the idea from Proverbs 27: 6, so it reads more like:

Faithful are the kisses of a friend.

The wounds of an enemy are deceitful.

In my opinion, western societies' confusion on rights v right has significantly limited the amount of respectful constructive criticism of friends, acquaintances and others allowed within a politically correct western discourse, in many contexts. Constructive criticism of worldview, ethics, morality, acts and actions is often taken as a personal attack or as attacks on human personal rights, when in reality it is not always the case. Sometimes critiques are provided over issues of what is perceived as right, and wrong, not in regard to rights.

Example:

I can critique a religion on whether I view it as significantly right or wrong, without discussing the right/rights of such a religion to exist.

A biblical view promotes both constructive criticism and constructive praise.

Proverbs 12:25 King James Version (KJV)

25 Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: but a good word maketh it glad.

Psychologically disturbed?

Opine

This is anecdotal and philosophical deduction; not claiming to be scientific, but it is interesting relatively speaking, how many mental issues there seems to be among local Christian, older, young adults. I do not have a large social circle, but there seems to be many significant mental issues taking place.

I remember from a secular and definitely non-Christian perspective R Don Steele (a reference and not a psychological recommendation) stating (paraphrased) that one will find in particular, many psychologically disturbed people in singles groups.

From a Christian, biblical perspective, referencing Genesis 3, 1 Corinthians 7, it is at least reasonably possible that extended singleness significantly contributes to mental issues of older young adults that may be psychological disturbed.

Combine that with other factors such as bad relationship experience, romantic and otherwise.
And of course there is mental illness and other health issues.

Although not a psychologist, I do recommend prayer, significant biblical and theological study and consistent fellowship as remedy.
