Andrea Bocelli Serenades Leicester City: Culture Clash

Culture Clash

Quote from Sky News with the video

'Italian classical singer Andrea Bocelli has serenaded Leicester City Football Club before their match with Everton Football Club'

Leicester City are the new English Premier League champions.

In my opinion Bocelli is an excellent vocalist. Seems to me I have at least some of the music he performed today, on my iTunes; one quarter of my mp3s are now classical. The live version to me sounds exactly like the recorded one. Well-done.

My good friend Si from Manchester stated that he heard some of the fans on television at the match, try to reach the final high note and they failed miserably.

Satirically, the culture clash between classical vocals and football singing and chanting was evident. Leicester City manager, Italian Claudio Ranieri using his left hand to signal to some supporters in the crowd that they should be quiet during the performance and not sing and chant.

Is this not self-evident?

The fans demonstrated no 'cult-chu' as another good friend from England, now Florida, Sir Robin, would state.

I have stated previously online and offline that culturally there are two England's. The more cultured one and other.

This is yet another 'state of western society' moment. These supporters can do their singing and chanting at every match, in the parking lot, in transit, at the 'chippy' and at pubs and yet, they do not view it as self-evident that they should be quiet during this world-class performance.

No, I do not bang my belly at a Rush concert...

I admit I find the events today, pretty amusing.
