Fire Alarm test: A smirk on her face and lack of common sense

Pinterest

Every year our strata complex has mandatory fire alarm and vent cleaning checks. I understand and support this fully. It is in our mutual best interests.

There has been a sheet posted in the building stating it was our responsibility, as apartment owners, to confirm our appointment for the vent cleaning. The fire alarm testing is usually at about the same time. It can be earlier depending on the work of the technicians. It could be at 8 am. If so, if I am at home, I will let the fire alarm technician in and could stay in bed, if needed. I can close my bedroom door. I do work late often. I have online dealings overseas.

I confirmed the mandatory 10 am, July 31, appointment, yesterday with a sign-up sheet for the vent cleaning.

I live upstairs in the condominium complex and my Mother, disabled and with dementia lives downstairs in a hospital bed. I realize the first careworker arrives at 9 am. If I am not out of the complex at work or other, the Fraser Health careworkers have eight other apartment numbers to buzz to be allowed entrance into the complex to walk to our apartment. I set up this list with the Strata President. If I am home, I answer.

The buzz for 9 am will sometimes awaken me. In my underwear I buzz the careworker in and then get dressed and go downstairs to talk with the careworker and to give Mother her first meal or inform the careworker what is available to make Mother for breakfast.

Today, I am awakened at 8: 45 am approximately, by the phone ringing, which is the careworker arriving early. At the same time, as I attempt to buzz her in, I hear this woman yelling from downstairs (paraphrased) 'Russ, fire alarm'. I verbally yelled back. She could hear me. She replied. I am just awake, in my underwear attempting to let the careworker in as I usually would do, if home, and then get dressed. At that moment, the fire alarm technician (which did not bother me) bursts into my loft and checks the alarm.

What bothered me, were the actions of the Strata representative with a smirk on her face standing at the stairs looking at me. This was unethical and showed a lack of common sense.

She should have stayed downstairs. There was no need for her to show the fire alarm technician where the upstairs fire alarm was located. These apartments are virtually universally the same in every apartment he checks.

If she insisted on having a look, she could have given me thirty seconds to put pants and a shirt on, and to compose myself.

I gave her a very stern response. The smirk disappeared.

She stated I had two weeks notice. I was not going to point out her bogus reasoning while in my underwear. She missed the point...

I complained to my friend and the Strata President, that is approximately my Father's age. He stated that the Strata could not control the exact time of the fire alarm check. I understand. But, he agreed that this older woman and Strata representative should have stayed downstairs. If this was an actual fire, I could pardon her actions. She would need to clear the building.

As I homecare, for my Mother, I am probably the 'punk kid' of the complex, but I generally have common sense and expect it from the administration.

What, if instead of being, temporarily at least, a Christian celibate,  I was a fornicator and had a 'bird' with me as they say in 1970's British television comedies? What if I was in 'the can' to use a North American expression, and just darted out to buzz the careworker in.

The Strata representative got off lightly...

As I write this, the 10:16 am venting technician has now arrived. The Strata President just apologized again and stated he will speak with the Strata representative.

I am glad my options for leaving are improving and that Mother would be taken care of by Fraser Health homecare. But overall, it is a good place to live. I am blessed.

Dan the man took my advice, today he is getting married

123RF
Daniel is a relatively new, Christian friend. He was not born in Canada. Twice in the last six months to a year he has driven out in the evening to Maple Ridge to ask my opinion on how a man 35+ years of age, wishing to have his own biological family, can find a younger woman to date and marry with family potential.

Why would anyone ask me?

Well, I have studied all kinds of problems of evil...

I opined that I am no expert on relationships, but that I have researched this subject over the years. I reasoned that due to feminism and age preferences both from biological and cultural perspectives, with Western women, in general, it was better for him to consider Asian women that were more willing to consider a man to date and marry, ten years of age older, or more. I also suggested women from Eastern Europe and South America.

I suppose I had some influence.

Today, he marries a fellow Asian...

The Boss/Mother had no brakes...

US Weekly: As part of my homecaring work (my non-academic employment), I was required for optimal medical care to spend four figures on a custom wheelchair for the Boss. I am occupied with other work and the wheelchair is primarily used by the careworkers that deal with the daily hygiene of the Boss. The occupational therapist and careworkers informed me that the brakes did not work. The technician from the wheelchair supplier visited twice and managed to adjust the brakes to work at a 0 degree setting, but not at 10 to 45 degree settings. Today, with a third visit the custom wheelchair now has fully functional brakes.

Education Is Right

I found no certain source for this image. It is supposedly 'anti-government', satire. It is interesting art, in my opinion, but I like red. I am not speculating that I would support the views of the source of the image. In general, most Western governments are in support of education. Secular education. Personally, I am glad that I have two Canadian, Christian degrees as foundation and background, before I spent the bulk of my academic career in secular, United Kingdom, Universities. In England and Wales, I publicly acknowledged myself on campus as Reformed after years of biblical and theological research. So much for becoming more liberal... A broad education, based on the comments of my British tutors. I think Education is Right.

Proverbs 31/Medical waste & Kitchen tips

Proverbs 31

Proverbs 31: 30 was preached on at church this morning.

English Standard Version

Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.

New American Standard Bible

Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, But a woman who fears the LORD, she shall be praised.

King James Bible

Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.

Pastor (paraphrased): Beauty is fleeting and even the most attractive women age.

Pastor (paraphrased): Actresses in Hollywood that are over 35 years of age are expected to receive plastic surgery to look 25 years of age. I feel sorry for these women.

Old lady to my distant right: (paraphrased): What about men!

Younger lady beside her (daughter?): Shhhhhh!

Well, the verse in context is about women, but the pastor did critique men as well. And after all, an old lady should be able to relate to the verse. All of us should in a sense, eventually. Even me being a little 'Chuck Norris' like...

Medical waste and kitchen tips

With the Boss now being back home from her exotic vacation at the expense of the Province of British Columbia. Not prison. She now has more visits for homecare than she did previously. When I am not home the careworkers are dabbling in the kitchen to make the Boss a meal.

I had to label on both sides, today, the white recycling bag, that it is not for medical waste. Some careworkers have been tossing their soiled gloves and the disposable version of the bed protectors in that bag. I therefore, not willing to separate the items, had to place the contents of the recycling in our strata garbage bin. There is a garbage bin with a black garbage bag, right beside the recycling bag in our condominium! It has the soiled Depend or like in the garbage. It is difficult to see how the connection would not be made, as in where all medical waste should be placed. Yes, the medical gloves are plastic, but I am not separating their medical waste from Perrier cans.

Overall, the care-aids are excellent help.

I am now receiving kitchen 'tips' from the kind ladies of careworking.

One worker that calls me 'Kiddo' stated that I should not expect the careworkers to deal with a frozen block of butter in the refrigerator. I stated that the careworkers just needed to look in the kitchen cabinet with the glass front to see the butter in a dish by the plates that the careworkers would need to use for the Boss.

Another kind careworker stated that I left the coffee pot on while I went out to meet a friend. This careworker is very kind, but the Boss told her the other day, in a comical moment, that this worker talked too much.

I stated that the coffee pot was probably safe. Sure, ideally, I should have turned it off.

Let us hope the used coffee grinds do not end up in the recycling bag.

Time for coffee...

I am no expert, but I doubt this is the way to sell football in North America

I am pleased to be able to watch football in the 'new den' but seeing the Frisco, football, fan, farce with the Gold Cup, I reason Costa Rica versus French Guinea at the Gold Cup is not the type of football match that would generally interest North Americans.

For football/soccer to grow to the point of being a major sport in North America, other than when the FIFA World Cup is played in North America, it will require at a club level, MLS clubs playing in serious competition versus UEFA clubs, perhaps in the UEFA Champions League or like. As for the Gold Cup, the participation of more top South American and European national teams would assist its popularity.

'Instead of a vinyl disc, Traubeck's record player uses a cross-section of a log or tree trunk, using light to translate the different colors and textures of the tree's rings into musical notes and instruments. Because every tree has its own unique configuration of rings, every tree has its own unique "song." Essentially, Traubeck has created a potentially unlimited library of "records."'

Bullet Tuesday: This may be shocking news to some, but this planet has time zones

Pinterest

•Sadly, in general, the numerous Facebook readers that lack common sense, scammer or not, will not likely find this article. These people are not interested in me, but in what I can potentially do for them.

•These persons will generally not find my Facebook business page (Russell Norman Murray) and will only be familiar with my Facebook profile page (Russ Murray).

•Therefore, this entry may serve as satirical entertainment to actual relevant persons?

•A few years ago, I followed advice from an online sermon and left my Facebook profile page mainly for socializing and post mainly academic website material on my Facebook business page.

•This allows most of my Facebook friends and family that are not interested in my theological and philosophical views to avoid these articles and just read some of my lighter posts on my profile page.

•This did create the 'third academic blog' scenario that I wanted to avoid, which I have written on previously in years past, but I have limited original material for my Facebook business page, in order to limit the extra work.

•Facebook whether the profile or business page, is used by me to write with friends and family, including those I have met personally and those I have only met online.

•Facebook could assist me in making more business, academic and personal contacts.

•Discussions in regard to business, academic, personal and articles I have written is reasonable.

•PhD listed on my profile and business pages, does not mean that I am in the market for a supposed bimbo selling her sexuality, whether from overseas or pretending to be from the United States of America or the United Kingdom and actually being from an overseas continent.

•PhD listed on my profile and business pages, does not mean that I am a charity for supposed causes.

•PhD listed on my profile and business pages, does not mean that I am a trillionaire with unlimited time for 'Hi' and 'How are you' first-time, probing, conversations. I have plenty of work to do daily.

•If one has a business, academic or personal issue he/she wishes to discuss, I can be emailed at rnmwales@telus.net

•This may be shocking news to some, but this planet has time zones.

•When I am Facebook messaged by someone lacking common sense, I may be asleep or more likely working.

• BBC Terrific Scientific 'Every country in the world is located within a time zone' 'Because the Earth spins on its axis, different parts of our planet receive light from the Sun, while others are in darkness' 'Earth is divided by imaginary vertical lines known as meridians, which run from the North to the South Pole. Time zones are loosely based on these lines. The prime meridian from which all others are measured is located in Greenwich, London. As you travel east from Greenwich, each time zone you pass through is another hour ahead of the current time in Greenwich.'

•Those friend requests that pretend to be United States military will be ignored.

•Those friends requests where the profile shows any hint of Jihadist or radical Islamic worldview, will be ignored. In the past several members of a radical Islamic Facebook business page kept adding me to their page as a member, even though I removed my name several times. Finally, after I complained to Facebook and they did nothing, I went through all the names of members and blocked them.

•If someone wants to have a reasonable discussion in regard to business, academic or personal, I can be emailed, Facebook messaged or contacted at one of my three academic websites.

Baptize the dead for Fred, Fill the tank for Frank?

Today

Today, I was chauffeured by Pope Chuckins in order to purchase a new wheelchair for the Boss.

Paraphrased:

Dr. Russ: Chuckles, that church parking lot is huge. It is like an arena parking lot.

Chuckles: Yes, Chilliwack is an extension of the 'Bible belt'.

Dr. Russ: I bet there is an LDS church here...

Chuckles: Searches with his online mobile: Yes, there is at this address...he states.

Dr. Russ:

Baptize the dead for Fred.
Fill the tank for Frank.

No, we are not LDS...

Laura Donnelly, July 4 Daily Mail

Excerpts cited

'Shortage of eligible men has left women taking desperate steps to preserve their fertility, experts say' 'A dearth of marriagable men has left an “oversupply” of educated women taking desperate steps to preserve their fertility, experts say.

The first global study into egg freezing found that shortages of eligible men were the prime reason why women had attempted to take matters into their own hands.

Experts said “terrifying” demographic shifts had created a “deficit” of educated men and a growing problem of “leftover” professional women, with female graduates vastly outnumbering males in in many countries.'

'The study led by Yale University, involved interviews with 150 women undergoing egg freezing at eight clinics.

Researchers found that in more than 90 per cent of cases, the women were attempting to buy extra time because they could not find a partner to settle down with, amid a “dearth of educated men”.'

'They said sweeping social changes meant that many professional women now struggled to find a partner that felt like an equal match.'

And my personal favourite...

'Some women were paying a high price for feminism, she suggested.'

End citations

Seems to me there is significant documentation that Western society lacks educated men. Males are problematic in some cases.

So, should educated Christian women adapt and consider changing certain societal rules?

Should the pool of possible educated Christian men be expanded to men that are relatable and still youthful, as opposed to ageist rules based on numbers?

Does the Bible support, ageist, hyper-feministic views on younger women, defining out of possibility, dating and marrying, educated older men?

Should interest in educated older men remain secret, or should reasonable risks be taken to build friendships and see what God wills?

Bullet Monday: Strawberry heads forever?

Canada day: Steveston, Richmond

Flickr: Not actually Chuck
•Chuck continues to build his legendary saint status. On Canada day, he realized that he was to drive the two of us out to Steveston, Richmond or Surrey-Largely to get the 'Hintz' that evening for fireworks. This is approximately up to a one hour drive, and up to a two hour round trip.

•Does Chuck earlier in the day, drive his brothers to somewhere closer to Maple Ridge? No. no. no, this computerized genius takes his brothers way out to a boat in Richmond, brings them home, has dinner, then takes him and I back to Richmond for the Steveston, Canada Day, 150th Anniversary celebration.

•With all those hours of driving in the summer heat, no wonder, Saint Chuckles often looks like strawberry heads forever.

•This from Chuck, that when he visits here some weekends requires a huge pot of coffee to avoid getting sleepy by 10 pm.

•At the Steveston event, our group had fine seafood within a technically floating restaurant. Philosophy Man, Deaaannn, stated (paraphrased) his opinion that American evangelicals have sold themselves out supporting an ethically questionable President Trump. He also critiqued that with the Republican health care reforms, millions of Americans will be left without health care. This issue has been a documented concern on Facebook by another good friend of mine, Documentary Man.

•I did introduce Philosophy Man to Documentary Man back in 2002 when Documentary Man visited. Metropolitan Vancouver. Thankfully the universe did not implode.

•At the seafood dinner, I agreed with Deaaannn that President Trump was ethically questionable. I reason there are too many, for example, questionable tweets and instances where a President should 'turn the other cheek' and stick to government business.

•I am a moderate conservative, and I did state at the table that I am not a typical 'What would Jesus do?' commenter. But, being in Christ, I do not believe that the Biblical God would call Christians to support an ethical view where people are left without at least basic essential healthcare. I realize that more complex treatments may not always be covered by a government or insurance. This is the case here in British Columbia. On Thursday I have to spend $1450 on a custom wheelchair for the Boss. I also had to pay $500 to redo three rooms in order for the Boss to be set up in the living room.

•A problem with the very conservative view that 'stupid people' that waste their lives and do not insure selves properly, do not deserve health care is that sometimes these people have children and/or other dependents. I do not think the children should pay for the mistakes of their parents when it comes to health care. Nor should other dependents.

•My conservative, libertarian view on government spending is that all of the essentials. health care, infrastructure, security, mandated education and deemed essentials, should be fully covered before there are any funds available for secondary concerns. Especially politically charged political agendas!

•For balance, for my conservative friends, I do reason that President Trump, being a successful businessman can lead an administration which does at least, benefit the American economy by eliminating some unnecessary restrictions on business. I am not stating to forget about protecting the environment for the sake of economic growth.

•I have watched Fox News for a few months now. I do think it is mainstream media, it is just not the liberal mainstream media, it is the conservative mainstream media. There is a different theme, largely for entertainment purposes. See Hannity, especially. I do reason Tucker Carlson Tonight offers many good insights.
