When working through difficult times in life, obey what the Lord has placed in your mind and heart. Do not follow contrary advice from critics in an attempt to make life easier.
1 John 2:17-19

17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
Interestingly, seeking the easier life, in contrast to God's perfect will, was additionally a theme of the sermon I heard at church today.

Local grocery store owned by very kind Chinese Canadian grocers. My fruit and vegetable supplier.
Mrs Owner: She looks in the cash register to give me some change. 'I give you change' (I think she said).
Me: Certainly, by all means as much as possible, please empty the till. But I paid by debit card.
Mrs Owner: Ohhhh (laughs).
