Garbage in, Garbage out?

Our Thoughts

Interesting message on how at times society, culture and media, programs the mind of the listener and reader. When a person is programmed with darkness from these sources, often the light will appear offensive, once programming has set in.

I do not think the message is meaning to state that all societal, cultural and media messages are evil. It is stating that the dark messages from those sources often significantly program the listener, including many within the Christian Church.

The message promotes a theory of Garbage in, Garbage out

I think the view has definite theological and philosophical truthfulness to it. Although, not in an exhaustive sense.

I remember debating this type of view with students and professors at Columbia Bible College; in particular in regard to secular music with non-Christian lyrics. A history professor and I agreed that depending on existing worldview, it is possible that new objectionable input can be increasingly rejected. In a similar way, a person receiving increased gospel input does not guarantee possible or greater acceptance of the message.

John 3:19

New American Standard Bible (NASB) 19 This is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil.

John 3:19

English Standard Version (ESV) 19 And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil.

John 3:19

King James Version (KJV) 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
