No Original Six: The Original Two

Educational American video on National Hockey League history:

In reality there is the original two from 1917-1918:

Montreal Canadiens
Toronto Hockey Club (Now Maple Leafs)

Toronto

I think the video is too indecisive in regard to Toronto. According to the National Hockey and almost all documentation, the Toronto club changed name, but it is traced back to season one. Example: All 13 Toronto, Stanley Cups are documented to the Toronto Maple Leafs. Years ago I occasionally saw them credited with 11, but now it is universally 13. The League has the right to make this decision as the awarding entity.
From 2014: The Globe and Mail: Los Angeles now has 2, Chicago 6, Pittsburgh 4

Notice, no Vancouver, Ottawa and Winnipeg...

Oh Canada: 2016 Team Values

Team Values from Forbes.com

Forbes

National Hockey League

1. Montreal Canadiens

1.175 Billion

The Canadiens are just slightly behind the New York Rangers for the number one National Hockey League position; but good enough to be number one in the Socialist Paradise of Canada. Of course it helps to have a billion dollar plus market with no competition. Thank you, Canada! If we win or lose, we are the only NHL game in town!

National Hockey League

2. Toronto Maple Leafs

1,150 Billion

I have to admit their new logos are absolutely first-rate for detail and design, now rivaling Montreal. They also have some new apparently very good young players. It is crucial there is not another club in the Greater Toronto Area or Hamilton, because it is philosophically obvious that a franchise valued over 1 billion USD, cannot survive or prosper with a second, smaller club in their market. Does not the empirical business of sports, evidence, looking at football and American football, support that point? Of course it helps to have a billion dollar plus market with no competition. Thank you, Canada! If we win or lose, we are the only NHL game in town!

Toronto Raptors: NBA

3. Toronto Raptors

980 Million

I am not a basketball fan, but I have to admit, to be ranked third in this country with a basketball club is impressive. Also, compliments on the new more traditional looking logo.

MLB & Wikipedia

4. Toronto Blue Jays

900 Million

With all the publicity they receive in Canada, I thought this might be higher. I thought the Blue Jays might have moved up to number one in Canada. Dead bird wrong...

Hockey still rules.

National Hockey League

5. Vancouver Canucks

745 Million

I said to my brother, visiting from Arizona, a few years ago. 'Vancouver might end up the worst (NHL) club in Canada'.

Brother: 'I hope not'.

I predicted a downfall after the Canucks could not at least put together a decent performance in Boston during the 2011, Stanley Cup final. This further fall, opposed to making the required changes for betterment.

National Hockey League

6. Edmonton Oilers

455 Million

With a new arena publicized as one of the finest every built, new young players, and better defensive system and goaltending; this small market is on the way up. Past the Canucks on the ice, but not in franchise value.

National Hockey League

7. Calgary Flames

435 Million

The news states a new arena is in the works for Calgary. I think they will be fine, with some good young players, despite using a burnt out black 'C' logo, far too often.

National Hockey League

8. Ottawa Senators

370 Million

The Trojan condom look is not the problem. From what I read and listen to, the franchise made a huge mistake with a bad arena detail not in downtown Ottawa. This when the trend was to build new building at city core. Once the planned new arena in downtown Ottawa is built the club value will increase. In the high unlikelihood that does not happen the team will move to Quebec City, Seattle or Houston and I doubt Ottawa would receive a team again, because it is in a foreign country. But, the new arena is being planned states the media. I reason very likely this club will become a bigger club, slowly in downtown Ottawa.

National Hockey League

9. Winnipeg Jets

350 Million

I truly believe and reason that Jets 2.0 will be better on and off the ice than Jets 1.0 and the current Arizona Coyotes.

National Hockey League

Quebec Nordiques

I hope they return.

But, I would like to see 2-3 bigger Canadian NHL clubs created/recreated, but that is a pipe dream, it appears. Canada is a foreign NHL country and the Habs and Leafs 'would not survive or prosper' with competition.

Bermuda triangle v shorts

Popular Mechanics October 22

Cited

'New Theory May Explain The Deadly Bermuda Triangle

Hexagonal cloud formations could be to blame.'

Cited

'We may finally have an explanation for the mysterious area just south of Miami known as the Bermuda Triangle.

The Triangle has swallowed dozens of airplanes and ships in accidents over the last hundred years. But scientists say the deadly patch of ocean may just be the result of strange cloud behavior.

New satellite images shows areas of hexagonal clouds with straight edges around the Triangle. Clearly, clouds usually don't form straight lines."The satellite imagery is really bizarre. These types of hexagonal shapes over the ocean are in essence air bombs," Meteorologist Randy Cerveny says in a documentary by the Science Channel. "They are formed by what are called microbursts and they're blasts of air that come down out of the bottom of a cloud and then hit the ocean and then create waves that can sometimes be massive in size as they start to interact with each other."

This kind of turbulent air is extremely dangerous for airplanes, which could be flipped or knocked into the sea by the currents. The waves formed by this kind of wind could tower at more than 40 feet. Not exactly a friendly area for air or sea travel.'

End

So, I take it, aliens are not responsible for Bermuda shorts either.

Time Travel Via Facebook: Aberystwyth & Cardiff

Aberystwyth was a stop on my train with bus journey to the University of Wales, Trinity Saint David, Lampeter campus. The trip had beautiful greenery and scenery.  Seems to me I took the bus from Aberystwyth to Lampeter, at least once. Very nice area, but very isolated and rural.

Time Travel Via Facebook: Edinburgh & London

Edinburgh Castle: Summer 1995. The trip that increased my interest in potential future PhD study in the United Kingdom. The University of Edinburgh was a possibility based on my 1997 visit, but it did not work out. In the end, I am pleased to have studied through the University of Wales, at the time, the second largest University system in the United Kingdom. The University of Wales, Trinity Saint David, where I earned my PhD, now has its own system.

Clue: The building manager with his belt undone...

Add caption

At about 7 pm, just over an hour ago, the building fire alarm went off.

I yell at my Mother, the Boss, in the downstairs section of the condominium to 'Get up!'

She wanted to stay put. Predictable based on fire drills in the past.

I live in the loft section, upstairs, but I have to keep an eye on her with my homecaring duties. As I figured as she always stalls on fire drills, she could not hear the alarm and did not want to get up.

Next she provided a variety of excuses for not getting up, including not being fashionable enough.

I reasoned because of time of night, it was not a fire drill. Our fire drills in the past have been documented and during the day.

I quickly checked the common area hall, I viewed my friend, the building manager and strata president, hurried, walking around with his belt undone. The hall seemed possibly smokey.

I had to keep pushing 'The Boss'  to get up, and she kept delaying. I managed to get her to the common area stairs with her walker and then was informed by fire wardens that the smoke alarm triggered from a new owner's apartment had ended and we could go back to our condominium. Two firemen passed us as they were walking up the stairs.

Our neighbour, a former maternity ward head nurse told me for the future, to buy a wrap to place around the Boss next time, as the Boss, will always fight, states the nurse.

That will be a thrill.

The next option, suggested by the kind neighbour-nurse, and one I likely will go with is to put Mother in her wheelchair and I was told by the nurse to strap the Boss in.

The nurse suggested I tie Mother in with a sweater.

Could I use tape? ;)

That will be a thrill...

I have told the Boss...

'Look I am not dying in a fire because of you, and if I have to, even though you will be in excruciating pain (with her serious arthritis and joint issues) I will throw you over my shoulders if I have to.'

I have to take her over a set of stairs. Thankfully, a male fire warden has offered to assist with lifting Mother next time. The Boss is not heavy, but it will be quicker and more efficient if two men carry the Boss.

CNN: Trump, Dr. Russell Moore, Evangelicals, Mormons

I have little desire to comment on politics, but I am a moderate conservative. This was an interesting interview, today.

I used to watch The Apprentice. I analyzed Mr. Trump as a wealthy playboy with wealthy playboy friends. The latest tape news does not surprise me at all. A wealthy, hyper-egotistical person pushing the ethical envelope. Unethical and immoral thoughts, words and actions in regard to the treatment of women.

Never Guess in Academia/Explanation of Previous Shadow Warrior Entry

Shadow Warrior

Explanation of Previous Shadow Warrior Entry

Briefly, with an explanation of the previous post. No one has asked, and as per usual with a 'Chucky' article, the pageviews are above average for my website articles, in number.

I suppose the previous article demonstrates the improvisational, 'jazz fusion' nature of my thinking and also that of Chucky. I had originally hoped for a longer five minute video article review of Shadow Warrior (1997).

But with all the technical difficulties, it was getting late, in fact early this morning, and it was Chucky's second visit to my condo in a few weeks.

Both times we spent (wasted to us) a lot of time trying to find screen recording software.

Once we found Debut Video Capture, that software sort of worked.  It was still requiring many changes in settings. I later edited the video with other new software, once Chucky departed.

The first recordings featured very cracked audio which sounded 1920s like in quality, so as it is a first person shooter game, the idea of statements I had heard from the the 1920s era, about the Great War, came into my head. These of course from seniors in documentaries.

Yes, in regard to the problem of evil, I was also satirically demonstrating the flawed thinking to assume that at that point in history, World War I would be the war to end all wars. The same realm was still in existence.

So,the article connects to my overall website themes.

Shadow Warrior post

Never Guess in Academia

On Friday through Skype, a co-worker told me that he/she only earned a 'C' grade on a recent academic paper because according to the professor, the work lacked citations. The content was rated as good, otherwise.

I have informed this friend over the years to always specifically ask the professor what was required in an academic course. Besides asking what the academic standards were for a course, one should in writing, risk providing too many citations as opposed to too few.

I learned this lesson over the years.

My final PhD work from the University of Wales, Trinity Saint David, consisted of ten-twenty citations per page. I have presented in the past some of this work verbatim on the Dr. Russell Norman Murray website, and it is significantly unreadable because of too many citations.

That approach does not work very well in an academic website context.

However:

Never guess in academia.

Know.

Gain knowledge of academic requirements. As much as possible.

The War To End All Wars: Shadow Warrior (1920)(1997)

Chucky and I attempted several times over a few hours and two evenings to find reasonable screen recording software. Nothing worked, or worked well, but Debut finally worked decently, although the audio often sounded 1920s era. Therefore the satire...
