Demon Angeles (According to Gmail translate)

Fascinating: On Facebook this is documented as
Granville Street, Vancouver 1901!

A reminder of how forested many of

North America's major roads, used to be.
• Innocently, as innocent as I can be as a satirical writer of sorts, I was writing to Chucky (The Red Skull) and Zombie (Frankenzombie) on Gmail, yesterday. I typed in that we would be attending Dean and Anjela's, New Year's Eve party, as a second event, later tonight.

 • Again, nothing to do with me, and I would NEVER think of this combination, but Gmail audio translated the name of this lovely couple, with apparent 3/4 family, Broadway superstar, grasp that brass ring, aspirations (girl, youth or in your 40's to 50's, whatever) as Demon Angeles...

SAN FRANCISCO, CA—The dogs of San Francisco have announced a citywide cleanup initiative, in which the canines will carry little plastic bags with them wherever they go in order to clean up the massive dumps humans keep leaving on the sidewalk. The initiative is expected to freshen up the city significantly, ridding the sidewalk of millions of pounds of human waste.

Friday Bullets: Getting burned

Ernest Hepnar photo
Canadian Biography

Brother Chuck?

Saint Chuckles at a Boxing Day event, made an excellent find and mentioned a British Columbia cultist from history...

WILSON, EDWARD ARTHUR (also known as Brother XII and The Brother, XII, and colloquially as Brother Twelve; on 23 March 1931 he legally changed his name to Amiel de Valdes), mystic and cult leader; b. 25 July 1878 in Birmingham, England, son of Thomas Wilson, a master craftsman, and Sarah Ellen Pearsall; m. 24 Dec. 1902 Margery Clark in Wellington, New Zealand, and they had a son and a daughter; d. 7 Nov. 1934 in Neuchâtel, Switzerland, or later. Brother XII was one of the most intriguing cult figures of the 20th century and has been described by Professor James A. Santucci as “sharing the brilliance of an L. Ron Hubbard, the destructiveness of a Jim Jones … and the hypnotic hold of a Rasputin.”

His group was a prototype of the new religious movements that would be founded by charismatic leaders in the second half of the century. Originally named Edward Arthur Wilson, he was raised in the Catholic Apostolic Church and was heavily influenced by its apocalyptic teachings. A natural mystic, he would claim to have been in touch from an early age with higher beings and subtle worlds. Apprenticed as a youth on a Royal Navy sailing ship, he travelled the seas as a mariner, navigator, and eventually captain. During his voyages he immersed himself in the study of metaphysics and world religions, especially the teachings of the Theosophical Society.

In 1907 he moved with his wife and children to British Columbia, where he held various jobs, including that of ship’s pilot. By his own account, in 1912 he passed through a “Ceremony of Dedication” during which he learned of his occult mission. He thereafter abandoned his family, who returned to their native New Zealand, and he resumed his wanderings and study, ostensibly to ready himself for the spiritual work to which he would later be called. While staying in the south of France in the autumn of 1924, impoverished and in ill health, Wilson heard the voice of an Egyptian deity telling him to prepare for his great task. This epiphany was followed by an intense period of automatic writing and inspirational contact with a higher being who identified himself as a “Master of Wisdom” in an occult brotherhood known as the Great White Lodge, believed by Theosophists to guide the evolution of humanity.

• Brother XII, based on this cited review and other online reviews, appears to have been a religious leader that trusted in occultism as opposed to the biblical God revealed in various Hebrew Bible and New Testament texts. Interesting how his religion and philosophy was apparently very much a product of his time.

• In contrast, divine, scriptural, revelation from the eternal, infinite God to humanity, has context for every human era and time, but is also in a sense, timeless, eternal, truth from a God that exists beyond human eras, but interacts in the time he created.

Getting burned

I have recently been granted access to an actual Windows 10 PC with a CD-Rom drive. 'Incredible' 'ancient' technology from the 1990's.

• Sadly, my SUV CD player does not play MP3s or MP4s and so I have been looking for a way to translate my CDs and You Tube files to CDR.

• I presently have nine new burned CDR albums via my MP3/MP4 collection which again, is based on my archived CD collection and You Tube downloads. These actually play on the SUV CD player.

• Music includes Stravinsky, Wagner, Brahms, Vivaldi, The Beatles, Rush, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Steve Hackett, Genesis, Allan Holdsworth, Bill Bruford.

• There are almost an equal amount of discs that did not burn (copy) properly via Real Player. With the first download of Real Player the software favoured 4x speed for burning for awhile then the program stopped working and the 'dead discs' piled up. I also tried some free burning programs that 'fried' my CDRs.

• I then downloaded Nero which successfully burned several discs, but I later discovered that they only play on a computer and not on the SUV CD player...sigh.

• I then downloaded a new version of Real Player and set the speed to 24x for burning, and most of my attempts at that speed have now worked.

• Based on my research and experience and discussing the issue with computer technicians, burning MP3s and MP4s to CDR is iffy, tricky business. Expect many 'man (woman) hours' of work.

Boxing Day Bullets

• Blessings this Boxing Day. I appreciate the two Turkey dinners and friends offline and online. I appreciate readers.

• I seriously pray to be guided by God and not be a Turkey.

• Readers prevent me from writing an 'online diary'. Thank you.

• I am enjoying the Christmas Season and the nice events. I was asked into a new singles group that is affiliated with others I have attended.

• It lists the age as 35 to 65 years old.

• I do appreciate the social interaction, to be clear.

• So, in general, a 35 year old has more in common with a 65 year old than a 34 year old, 30 year old, or 25 year old?

(Yea right states Zombie)

• Or is this segregating the 'old folks', all with so much romantic experience, especially me, of course, from the 'hotter' youngsters? Sorry for being blunt, but this comes to mind.

• I appreciate Church events where I can meet like-minded. I am less concerned with age.

R.I.P. Frosty the Snowman

Thank you for the idea, Arne from Norway...

New bowling champion (Not me)

Personally, I dislike ten-pin bowling, because of the bowling balls with the holes in the them. Not that I have huge hands, but it is still an annoyance. I prefer five-pin bowling and the balls that can actually be thrown 'like a human being' and not like Fred Flintstone. However, locally the ten-pin game is sadly more popular.

Uncle Einar tells the story of the drive-through car wash at 30 miles per hour

Excellent to receive a visit from the legendary Uncle Einar.

Enjoyable to hear the story, once again, from the 1970's when a (paraphrased quotes) 'old guy', 'drove through the car wash at 30 miles per hour.' 'Smashing and banging' and 'destroying brushes.' 'The man thought it was a drive-through.'

Bonus story: Uncle Einar's brother, also in the 1970's tossed an aerosol can into the open flame leading to a campfire explosion. Brother: 'I guess I will not be invited back.'

Thank you, Jeff Jenkins.

This is not all Pentecostalism.

I Timothy and Titus, as key examples, have Church members submit to the authority of the overseer and elders.

This story does not feature biblical, New Testament leadership; rather this is yet another weird African pastor with a perverted use of power over his flock.

Very pleased with myself today at my recently renovated condominium.

Strange how much room there is now on the kitchen counter...

Thursday Bullets: The point at which the processes that maintain an organism alive no longer function

Pixabay
• The Conservative Party of Canada will become more publicly 'progressive' for the sake of political popularity and relevancy.

•  Bobby Buff showed me a video, via his son, that featured a midget boxer (???) stating 'Come on, baby!' A catch phrase, I have often used with mock muscle poses, for many years in regards to Mr. Buff and his obsession with both Elvis Presley and Arnold Schwarzenegger, also known as listening to Elvis and bodybuilding.

• I just bought a ticket online to see An Jela, Deeaann, and their superstar daughter, perform on stage tomorrow. Dean has two jobs, and travels the world, but was likely still heavily persuaded to participate and act on stage. Wonderful folks. This performance in contrast to the equally grand, free one from behind the kitchen counter, with the props and various animals at their house. Love to the family...

• Visiting the 'Boss' at her residence, with her dementia, and the decreased mental states of many of the residents; I ponder on the theology of death due to disobedience to God:

Genesis 3: 17-19 from the New American Standard Version Bible (NASB)

17 Then to Adam He said, “Because you have listened to the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree about which I commanded you, saying, ‘You shall not eat from it’; Cursed is the ground because of you; In toil you will eat of it All the days of your life. 18 “Both thorns and thistles it shall grow for you; And you will eat the plants of the field; 19 By the sweat of your face You will eat bread, Till you return to the ground, Because from it you were taken; For you are dust, And to dust you shall return.

• I absolutely am not denying the scientific aspects of death, cited: 'Death' 'The point at which the processes that maintain an organism alive no longer function.' (Oxford: 223). Oxford Dictionary of Science, (2010), Sixth Edition, Oxford, Oxford University Press. My theological, biblical and philosophical education has me reason that death also has a spiritual aspect. Death is a result of God limiting the temporal life of human beings, due to the fall of humanity, sinful human nature and resulting sinful human choices.

• God is the cause of science, theology, philosophy and all sources of learned truth.

• Suffering and death are scientifically and biblically, theologically explainable.

• Romans 5, in the New Testament  again the the NASB:

10 For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. 11 And not only this, but we also exult in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.

• The suffering and coming death I can empirically view at the residence is troubling. On a personal basis it is still sad for a relationship with a loved one to be very damaged due to his/her very decreased brain capacity.

•  Even while observing and experiencing, suffering and death, the Hebrew Bible and New Testament do offer documented religious history that promises remedy for suffering and death, ultimately post-mortem for those with a regenerated nature, resurrected body and spiritual faith in the Messiah, Jesus Christ, from both historical historical sides of the cross.

Saturday Bullets: Law & order & democracy & political correctness

Vancouverisawesome.com: Saint Paul's Hospital
• This topic was discussed in an SUV as Zombie, Chucky and Kingpin, journeyed home from a Vancouver event. Seems to me, a reasonable view of democracy as a biblical, Christian (moderate conservative, in my case), is that he/she is biblically commanded to obey the state in regards to the maintenance of law and order.

• This would include, social order and economic order.

• Concerning Romans 13, F.F. Bruce writes that human government is a divine ordinance and has the powers of coercion and commendation which it has been given by God. By Christians obeying the state, they are serving God. Bruce (1987: 221). Bruce reasons that the Apostle Paul, in Romans, does not deal with the issue of unrighteous government here, but as with Acts 5: 29, Christians must obey God and Christ and should not obey the state when the state claims divine honours. Bruce (1987: 221). In other words, the state is not the equivalent of God.

• Cranfield explains that in Romans 13, Paul is not asking for an uncritical obedience to the state, but rather that God has placed the state in authority over persons. Cranfield (1992: 321).

• Mounce writes that in Romans 13, there is a divinely sanctioned role of government and that Christians are responsible to that government. It did not make any difference that the governing authorities were secular. God is the sole source of authority and established the authority for the state.

• Concerning 1 Peter 2 13-15, biblical scholar, Barclay reasons that the concept of anarchy by the Christian is far from New Testament thought. Barclay reasons what belongs to Caesar (the state) should be given to it, and what belongs to God should be given to God (Matthew 22: 21). Barclay (1976: 205).

• I reason that non-Christians, within western democracy can basically agree with the concept of the state maintaining law and order, without embracing biblical Christianity.

• Seems to me, in a western democracy, within law and order, there are many philosophical worldviews permitted. Views within that law and order, are required to be held respectfully (at least non-offensively, if not obviously respectfully), while all citizens, residents and non-residents, respect the legal rights of others where philosophy, ideas and premises, disagree.

• Within law and order, those that hold to biblical Christianity should therefore not be culturally bullied to comply with philosophies, ideas and premises that disagree with his/her worldview; nor should a biblical Christian by intellectual bullying, attempt to force or coerce others that are non-biblical Christians to hold to philosophies, ideas and premises that he/she disagree with within a worldview.

• In other words, culturally within western society, legally held views and opinions should not face bullying and cultural attempts to place them out of existence, because these are understood as negative by opponents.

The societal priority should rightly be maintaining law and order within democracy, not maintaining political correctness within democracy.

• At the same time, attempts at forcing or coercing some other secular or religious worldview and/or political/religious agenda on the unwilling, is not democratic.

• I leave future, prophetic, divine rule up to the infinite, eternal, perfectly holy, triune God (Revelation 21-22). This will be done without sin and evil, unlike any human attempts at rule.

Liberal toque

As noted previously, as a lifetime, Federal, Conservative Party voter, I have somehow ended up on the Liberal Party email list. Perhaps someone saw 'Dr.' by my name and thought...'Liberal'.

Attempting to be objective, I will comment that the emails are very kind, and quite honestly, I like the Liberal red colours and the Liberal toque, but no donation is on the way.

I have to state...these nice promotional emails are reminding me of similar promotions from PBS and The Knowledge Network.

Letter to Dr. Russ from the PM

I have never voted for the Federal Liberal Party. I do not know how I ended up on their mailing list, but I play along as a good Canadian. I even commented to them by email during the election. Someone suggested I was contacted because I have Dr. in front of my name.

From the desk of Justin Trudeau
Dr. Russ,
With Parliament returning in less than a week, I’m looking forward to the hard work ahead as we continue moving forward with our plan to build a better future.
Canadians are counting on our strong and dedicated team of Liberal MPs to build on the important progress we’ve made together in these last four years, by working every day to invest in the middle class, grow the economy, keep our communities safe, and fight climate change.
I know our team is up to the task. As always, we’ll be focused on making life better and more affordable for you, your families, and for all Canadians – at the beginning of this mandate, and in the months and years ahead.
But none of this will be possible without your support, Dr. Russ. It’s your hope, hard work, and commitment that power the progress we can achieve for Canadians, and your support means even more as we start this important next chapter.
That’s why I’m asking you to contribute what you can towards our important end-of-November online fundraising goal before midnight, and help ensure our Liberal team is ready to hit the ground running and keep Canada moving forward. 3,559 Canadians have already chipped in to help us meet our goal – and I’m hoping you can put us over the top.
Dr. Russ, can I count on you to chip in now to help our Liberal team start this new mandate strong?

For all that you do, Dr. Russ, thank you.

Maple Ridge could use these?

Bored Panda

Bored Panda 2017

If I was not recently paying attention, by God's grace, I could have been struck at a certain 224th Street, crosswalk, twice now.

One lady in a vehicle 'roared by' and waved to me. A previous time, a vehicle kept going and just missed striking the pedestrian in the wheelchair, just in front of me.

Seems to me, with many drivers, locally, there is an overall frustration with too many vehicles on the road, not enough road and not enough reasonable alternate transportation.

Add to that a recent more aggressive law enforcement in regard to speeding and traffic violations.
