Russ Murray Arne, I remember you told me about the film, The Party (1968), during the Pitt Meadows Secondary School, era, before you moved back to Norway. You also told me about the first two Pink Panther films from the 1960's; I had viewed only the films from the 1970s as a child and teenager. I did not see The Party, which is a classic, until the 1990s, or it might have even been the 2000s, when I returned from the United Kingdom.

Disappointingly, there were not many Peter Sellers films featured when I lived in Manchester and attended Manchester-Wales, Universities. There was too much 'He's a lady' Tom Jones in the media. I remember one or more 'live' shows with Tom Jones in an adult jumper, with women of various ages 'swaying'. I think 'sex bomb' was big hit at that time. Tom Jones is very famous in England-Wales. I even met someone in the Christian Union whose Mother had dated Tom Jones and called him a four letter word, as a result. The man can sing, though.

United Kingdom television at the time, although generally more entertaining than North American television, featured, very weird European erotic-horror films, with vampires after 10 pm, some nights.

I now have a DVD copy of The Party, and it is one of the very few films I watch every year. When we meet in the future, we should watch it. Interesting how you joked about the film so much, but you had only seen and heard clips. But media was more difficult to come by in the mid 1980s. The film was made in 1968.

I think for many of us, the film features the type of party we would like to go to and laugh at. But not in our house. It is like someone else's classic 'train-wreck'. Laugh at it and then quickly leave, after thanking the host.

By biblical principles, I would not be involved in a wild party. But this film is not 'R' rated at all. It is light and classically amusing.

Galatians 5:19-23 New Living Translation (NLT)

19 When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, 21 envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.

22 But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!

New Living Translation (NLT)

Funny, I can remember you visiting me at the house in 1985 and the New York Islanders lost game five of their playoff series to the Philadelphia Flyers, ending the series. Just looked it up, it was Sunday, April 28, 1985. I had a brand new Telefunken, German television. Excellent picture for the era.

Public v Private talk

Things posted on social media publicly are up for public opine and debate. Private issues, even with unnamed persons, should be handled privately, if one wishes to keep such issues private. For example, we have Facebook posts and we have Facebook email. #Matthew18

NASA finds Mennonites on other planets?

NASA

The Daily Bonnet: November 24

'NASA Confirms the Existence of Mennonites on Other Planets'

'In a press conference earlier this morning, NASA scientists have answered a question that has plagued Anabaptists since the early days of the Reformation: “Are there Mennonites on other planets?” The answer, it seems, is a resounding “yes.”

“We have strong evidence that points to not only life on distant planets, but also the existence of thriving Mennonite communities,” said NASA spokesperson Loretta Rempel.

'...“Mennonites love to travel. One theory is that sometime after the Russian Revolution, a few fringe groups from the Molotschna Colony broke off and headed into outer space,” said Rempel.

“In their quest to flee from sin and the world, they must have felt that Paraguay or Mexico were simply not far enough away.”'

...NASA claims it will spend between two and three trillion dollars to launch a horse-and-buggy into outer space sometime later this year. It is hoped that the rather primitive shuttle will reach the planet within ten years, after which time they will overtake the colony and force them to abandon their way of life and learn English.'

Long distance charges apply

reddit.com

Besides in-person, Metro Vancouver and Fraser Valley, Christian community socializing, I am also subscribed to a free Eastern European dating website.

I was informed today by one young lady (paraphrased) that long distance phone calls are acceptable and that Skype is not. In fact Skype is philosophically offensive to this one contact. This even though the long distance mobile phone calls, would cost (me alone, more than likely) thousands of dollars a year. I was informed more than once forcibly by this younger woman with a son, that Skype was not an option! She was offended that I mentioned it twice! This after she brought up the subject of phone calls, not me.

She appears semi-legitimate, at least, with photos with her son.

Paraphrased:

'Vwhat'? You expect me to buy a microphone and download Skype, for free. 'Vwell', you should pay thousands of dollars a year to talk to me on the 'vphone'.

I reason, 'financial test', on her part.

I reason, 'common sense test', on my part.

Dr. Strange v Dr. Strangelove

DC & Marvel

KMIT November 5

'Dr. Strangelove (1964) vs. Doctor Strange (2016)'

It has been a busy weekend. Tonight my friends are driving me to Dr. Strange or Dr. Strangelove, whatever it is...I have not seen either film.

I was planning on watching, whatever it is, on domestic cable eventually, but I guess I will be social, once again this weekend.

The plot?

Cited with 'alterations'.

'“Dr. Strangelove” is a black comedy from the Cold War where it tells the story of an insane American general who launches a squadron of nuclear bombers on an unauthorized attack against the Soviet Union; this desperation leads him to the Far East where he encounters a woman called The Ancient One (Tilda Swinton).'

I did not know that Marvel hired the late Peter Sellers or is it Bill Cosby?

Donald Derrick The think is insane. And ONE person wrote it. Yikes!
Russell Norman Murray 'The Codex Gigas or The Devil’s Bible is the largest 13th-century manuscript in the world'>>> Fascinating, even with fact mixed with legend. Of course, relatively a very late manuscript, therefore making the 'devilish' non-biblical additions of the scribe, more likely with the passing of time.

Russell Norman Murray Cited: 'The codex is 92cm tall, 50 cm wide, 22 cm thick, and weighs 74,8 kg. It has 620 pages and is bound in a leather covered wooden folder that is decorated with metal shaped designs. It contains a number of parts as well as many historical documents all written in Latin: The complete Vulgate Latin translation of the bible, The Old and New Testaments, The standard textbook for teaching medicine in the Middle Ages known as Ars medicinae, the Chronicle of the Bohemians, a calendar, two works of Josephus Flavius and more...'

'It is thought to have been created in the Benedictine monastery of Podlažice in Bohemia (Czech Republic). It is believed that the creator of the Codex was the Benedictine monk Herman the Recluse who was a resident of the monastery...'

'According to legend, the monk produced the manuscript in just one night with the devil’s help. Because he broke his monastic vows he promised to create a book to glorify the monastery forever, but when he became sure that he could not complete this task alone he prayed to Lucifer to help him in exchange for his soul...'
