Wild Boar v ISIS

Geddy Images

The Times April 26 2017

Cited

'A herd of wild boar mauled three Islamic State militants to death and injured five others in Iraq while the extremists were setting up an ambush, locals claimed.

The men were said to have taken cover in a bed of reeds near fields in the Hamrin mountains, about 55 miles southwest of Kirkuk. They were planning an attack on tribesmen who had formed anti-Isis brigades and had fled to the mountains when the jihadists seized the nearby town of Hawija in mid-2014.'

Is that a 'boaring' story or what?

In light of Matthew 8: 28-34, Mark 5: 1-20, Luke 8: 26-29, would Jesus hypothetically allow demons to enter wild boar and then kill and injure ISIS members?

Just wondering. This is not my view of what happened, I do not have enough information, just wondering.

An ambulance should sell ice cream too?

When I was a child, I thought an ambulance should sell ice cream too...Would you like an ice cream bar, or the defibrillator today? Does the defibrillator stop a person from lying?

From the British Columbia government posted at hospital. I am not stating that this is technically bad medical advice, But the message as a worldview, by implication, dismisses abstinence as a reasonable worldview, at least for many. The fact is that many person's within British Columbia and the Western world, do abstain from the recreational use of the drugs documented within this message. The fact that this type of message is deemed as required is a sign of the ethical position taken by many within society and this is acknowledged by the government.

From yesterday-today:

Vancouver General Hospital/University of British Columbia assured me today that my bionic eye is progressing.

I spent time at Vancouver General Hospital (me) and Ridge Meadows Hospital (as visitor) in one day. Love that hospital smell and over $15 for parking.

One of these things is not like the other

SportAverage Team Value        (millions)
NFL$2,388
MLB$1,537
Soccer (top 20 teams)$1,468
NBA$1,355
NHL$517

Forbes, April 11

A testimony to too many National Hockey League franchises in questionable, experimental markets. Yes, the National Hockey League is growing, but it cannot match those other four sports in popularity and financial value, which are also growing, but typically with less questionable, experimental markets. Hockey is a less popular sport and this is made worse through certain National Hockey League franchise locations.

Note

The soccer entry from Forbes would be UEFA football clubs.

Serial Donator II?

Today

Serial Donator April 7

I stated:

I walked into Save-On-Foods, today. At the door, the security officer was a classmate from the Enhanced Security Training at Douglas College (2013).

He asked me if I still worked in security. I stated 'No'. (I had worked in corporate security at HSBC corporate headquarters, Vancouver). I stated that I was now continuing with homecaring for my Mother, working as a professor and employed in social media.

Paraphrased:

Security Officer: 'I thought I saw you in the paper the other day. It looked just like you with the glasses, but then I thought, it could not be you.'

Conversation ended.

This person in the newspaper was probably not an 'academic lookalike' because the concept of me as a professor would have been believable for this security officer. Perhaps it was an accused criminal or convicted criminal?

This security officer knows that I am a Christian and would assume, rightly, that I was not that person.

I receive a few of these 'sighting reports' yearly.

Is this a 'curse of being adopted'?

How likely is it that my biological Father, (only 24 years old when I was born), is/was a serial donator to the public supply of adoptable babies? This supply could also be via my biological Mother (29 years old at the time and less likely, in my opinion), and I know through research that both her and her younger sister gave up children for adoption. Not the kind of 'public service' that would interest me. Although I certainly favour adoption over abortion! I can see the satirical angle, as my own life is so radically different.

Serial Donator II?

After Northview Community Church, this afternoon (paraphrased).

Elder: Russ, this is my friend, 'Fred'.

Blank: Hi Russ, hey I know you, Russ Sharpe, right?

Me: (Laughs). No, but I am confused for someone else a fair amount (as explained). I am adopted.

Fred: You are a dead ringer for 'Frank' Sharpe! You look just like the family. You should go to this website and find out your genetic ancestry.

Fred: (To elder). By the way, Mennonites were originally Jews.

Me: That sounds like British Irsaelism to me.

Me: Mennonites have already been historically persecuted enough, and now they are Jewish as well? (All laughing).

Starting to look like a sucker?

National Hockey League

New York Post April 8

I am not certain if this cited article is sensationalistic or not. But, it is interesting and can certainly be examined in both journalistic and satirical contexts.

Cited:

'William Foley, the billionaire owner of the NHL’s expansion team Las Vegas Golden Knights, is starting to look like a sucker, a hockey exec told On the Money.'

'Presently, the Golden Knights are in talks for a media rights deal and are only attracting offers of slightly more than $10 million a year, two sources said. That would be among the lowest contracts in the league.

A Golden Knights spokesman said, “We are involved in active discussions with several parties. The specifics of these discussions will remain confidential.”

Foley paid the NHL a $500 million expansion fee to secure the team, which starts playing next season. If he can only attract $10 million annually from a regional sports network, the team could lose more than $30 million a year, the hockey executive figured.'
---

In my attempts at academic and philosophical objectivity, and this is sports philosophy, I reason the Las Vegas franchise will likely survive long term, as the building should be profitable in this world entertainment center, even if the hockey club is not. In other words, the building could potentially subsidize the hockey club.

If this cited National Hockey League executive actually stated what is documented, in regard to 'sucker' why is there not more democratic League opposition to these questionable franchise placements?

Five hundred million reasons.

This article is a lesson that bad philosophy can lead to one becoming a sucker! And bad theology can lead to...

It Is Easier To Fire Coaches, Than Ownership & Management

The Globe and Mail

CBC April 10

Cited

'Canucks axe coach Desjardins after 2nd straight missed playoffs Vancouver's 30-43-9 record was its worst since 1999'

Cited

'Assistant coaches Doug Lidster and Perry Pearn were also fired.'

In my opinion, the more serious problems with the Vancouver Canucks are positionally above any coach. As per usual, the Vancouver Canucks problems start with questionable decisions and moves from ownership and management.

'Long-term strategy to 'draft and develop''

This has been largely problematic since joining the National Hockey League in 1970.

On the positive side, for ownership and management, especially, Vancouver continues to be one of the financially most valuable hockey markets and clubs, in the world.

Seek the easier life?

Today

From recent online sermon

Paraphrased

When working through difficult times in life, obey what the Lord has placed in your mind and heart. Do not follow contrary advice from critics in an attempt to make life easier.

1 John 2:17-19

King James Version (KJV)

17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

Interestingly, seeking the easier life, in contrast to God's perfect will, was additionally a theme of the sermon I heard at church today.

Today

Paraphrased

Local grocery store owned by very kind Chinese Canadian grocers. My fruit and vegetable supplier.

Mrs Owner: She looks in the cash register to give me some change. 'I give you change' (I think she said).

Me: Certainly, by all means as much as possible, please empty the till. But I paid by debit card.

Mrs Owner: Ohhhh (laughs).

Character v Characteristics

India: Facebook, Travel and Leisure

This evening:

Preparing a meal, I was in conversation with a Fraser Health caregiver in my Mother's section of the condominium downstairs.

This caregiver, originally from India, stated that her late sister's son living in India, after abandoning the family years ago, would now like to be reunited with her family. Assumedly in British Columbia.

However, their family has been told from an Indian relative that this young man is involved in 'bad stuff.' He looks like a 'gangster' she stated.

She showed me some of his photos.

Could be...

I opined that I am adopted and that if I was in a similar situation I would, in evaluation, place more importance on human character than biological characteristics. It should not be reasoned that similar biological and physiological characteristics equal positive human character.

It is all academic

Paraphrased remarks from me to a student:

One can complete a virtually infinite amount of edits and revisions to a thesis.

Virtually each and every reviewing professor would add new edits and revisions, perhaps with colourful red corrections.

The key is to academically satisfy the professor that ultimately grades the thesis.

The statement: 'It is all academic', is academically relevant.
