Give Me Cake Liberty Or Give Me...

Note, that is not the public, professional service approach I would have as an owner or employee of a company, corporation or business entity.

Nor is it a ministry approach, whatsoever.

I would do the best I could do, or I would not perform the work.

There is also the issue of respecting someone, as a Biblical Christian, with a different worldview and views on marriage.

Respect not equaling intellectual agreement, nor an abandonment of Biblical views and doctrines.

There needs to be a love for one's neighbour with the Great Commandment (s) of Mark 12 and Matthew 22 and this requires some level of respect.

Person's would also need to be respected even if a Christian view disagrees with laws and views of the state.

However, I can understand the legitimate satire from the image.

Actually, with my lack of baking experience my cake could end up looking like that...unintentionally.

I would then have the excuse that I would need to eat it myself, over several days (selfish stomach mode).

I stated on Facebook:

Cited:

'Ah, yes an option I suppose...'

'The view of making someone commercially serve someone in that context is not only a breaking of liberty but also a demonstration of gov. that is too big and too interested in getting votes. If someone does not want to serve such and such, let the market deal with it.'

'Not the same as going into an ER and being turned down, for example. Not emergency service in cake case.'

End of citations:

Give me cake liberty or give me...a piece (selfish, stomach mode)?

'Let them eat cake'?

American cases like this make me ponder and wonder if the United States is the most free nation on Earth, or most free democratic nation as some state. A complex topic.

It seems questionable.

Vanity?

Italy: Morguefile

Pretty girl seeking a rich husband got a shocking Investment banker's reply: Feb 18, 2014

Young woman cited

'I’m going to be honest of what I’m going to say here. I’m 25 this year. I’m very pretty, have style and good taste. I wish to marry a guy with $500k annual salary or above.

You might say that I’m greedy, but an annual salary of $1M is considered only as middle class in New York. My requirement is not high. Is there anyone in this forum who has an income of $500k annual salary? Are you all married? I wanted to ask: what should I do to marry rich persons like you?'

End citation

CEO cited

'Put the details aside, what you’re trying to do is an exchange of “beauty" and “money" : Person A provides beauty, and Person B pays for it, fair and square. However, there’s a deadly problem here, your beauty will fade, but my money will not be gone without any good reason. The fact is, my income might increase from year to year, but you can’t be prettier year after year.

Hence from the viewpoint of economics, I am an appreciation asset, and you are a depreciation asset. It’s not just normal depreciation, but exponential depreciation. If that is your only asset, your value will be much worse 10 years later.'

'Anyone with over $500k annual income is not a fool; we would only date you, but will not marry you. I would advice that you forget looking for any clues to marry a rich guy. And by the way, you could make yourself to become a rich person with $500k annual income. This has better chance than finding a rich fool. Hope this reply helps.

I have viewed like reasoning previously...

Not shocking to me.

But many in society may not be familiar with which such thought.

As noted I have read like philosophy to the CEO previously. I think it was on a secular relationship site for males. One of these sites where I would gather a few nuggets of truth and also philosophically and theologically reject much of the material.

The usual.

I will admit I hold to a very similar philosophy as mentioned, but from a Christian perspective.

I would not date like.

I am not wealthy and would consider myself average looking but in above average physical condition because of reasonable lifestyle, moderate healthy eating and plenty of exercise.

I also aggressively take care of medical matters.

All within God's will.

What I bring to a potential romantic table is not likely to decline significantly over the next few decades. For example, although my cardiovascular abilities will have declined somewhat since my 20s, I still work out with cardio and muscle building exercise.

I am physically stronger than I was in the past. I am also wiser.

My qualities actually still have progressive potential as well.

However, a young woman that relies primarily on her looks is clearly a declining asset and to use business language, a 'bad investment'.

Instead a young woman, like any person, needs to have more to offer.

Needs to have more depth.

Ecclesiastes 2:7-11

English Standard Version (ESV)

7 I bought male and female slaves, and had slaves who were born in my house. I had also great possessions of herds and flocks, more than any who had been before me in Jerusalem. 8 I also gathered for myself silver and gold and the treasure of kings and provinces. I got singers, both men and women, and many concubines,[a] the delight of the sons of man. 9 So I became great and surpassed all who were before me in Jerusalem. Also my wisdom remained with me. 10 And whatever my eyes desired I did not keep from them. I kept my heart from no pleasure, for my heart found pleasure in all my toil, and this was my reward for all my toil. 11 Then I considered all that my hands had done and the toil I had expended in doing it, and behold, all was vanity and a striving after wind, and there was nothing to be gained under the sun.

Footnotes: Ecclesiastes 2:8 The meaning of the Hebrew word is uncertain

Youthful physical beauty from a female/young woman is not only fleeting and limited, although in some exceptions it can last into middle age, but according to Ecclesiastes and its human philosophical way of examining life, is vanity.

To seek simply 'goods' in a romantic context is a form of idolatry.

True love, including romantic love from a Biblical Christian perspective would be based on spiritual, intellectual and romantic, mutual compatibility. New Testament concepts of love as in the New Commandment from John 13, imply a holistic approach to all love as opposed to simply one that is an exchange of physical and economic assets.

And by the way, I do not even care for her looks much.

Too produced and with obvious 'balloons' etcetera.

Would Copernicus Roll Over In His Grave?: Over A Quarter Of Americans Surveyed Unaware Earth Revolves Around Sun

NY Daily News: Feb 18, 2014

'One quarter of Americans don't know the Earth revolves around the sun, study finds Copernicus would be sad: In the survey of more than 2,200 people conducted in 2012, only 74% appeared to know the answer to a basic astronomy question.'

Cited

'The Earth revolves around the sun, as the brilliant Copernicus said 500 years ago. But apparently many Americans believe otherwise. It's good Copernicus was not around to see this.'

Cited

'In the survey of more than 2,200 people conducted in 2012, only 74% appeared to know basic astronomy. That means at least 550 people in the study got it wrong — and it's only been 500 years since legendary astronomer and mathematician Copernicus formulated a heliocentric model of the universe that placed the sun at the center.'

My Facebook comment

'Not that I support dictatorship or for that matter theocracy (in this realm), but when I see reports like this it does make me ponder when I see in the West that the majority support this or that view. Twenty-five percent + is not a majority but a significant number and I wonder if on many issues persons lack significant knowledge, reflection and willingness to learn.'

Further from Facebook

'It is not always the main matter of knowing something, but rather being open to learning something. And by the way, even without a science degree I reasoned a more technical reply was probably reasonable, but the article explains in basic terms.'

From The Oxford Dictionary of Science

Nicolaus Copernicus (1473-1543) was a Polish astronomer who also studied mathematics and optics; by 1514 he formulated his proposal that the planets in the solar system orbit the sun in circular paths. Not formally published until he died. His views were opposed by many in the church and other astronomers. Oxford (2010: 194).

A Facebook friend John pointed out that the earth is actually orbiting in a barycentre which I document is 'the centre of mass of a system'. Oxford (2010: 75).

Note on my use of photos

In regard to my other, main blog. Had a complaint via email, I think based on Stat Counter, although it could be redirected, from Boulder, Colorado. Often times Site Meter will state nothing for location, or one location and Stat Counter another. Sometimes they agree. Stat Counter has more locations listed, but I think Site Meter is probably more accurate, based on when I think I know the person, more often.

A photographer was 'appalled' that I used some of his photos that he claims were undocumented. They were among my oldest photos from my desktop photos from several computers ago. He claimed I 'stole'. I deleted them from my photos and my posts at once. I explained I did not steal as I documented as from Google Images and his name was on them. That kind of documentation is common ethical practice today. Even so, I do not want to offend anyway or damage rights, so I will likely post shared Facebook and Google+ photos from now on and photos from share sites. Trekearth seems ambiguous as I saw no warning on their site having looked more than once and yet Wikipedia states trekearth photos are not meant to be shared for sites which seems strange. Their site exists to share photos...

Naked Church USA...Yikes

Vienna-Via email

More crazy...

Daily Mail: February 11, 2014

''And they were naked – and not ashamed': Church allows nude worship Congregation at White Tail Chapel, Virginia attend church while in the nude Pastor Allen Parker says the idea is to 'equalise' everybody in front of God Church leader claims Jesus was naked at Bible's most important moments Chapel even hosts naked weddings, with families encouraged to strip off'

Cited:

'Mr Parker is believed to have drawn at least some of his opinions on nudity from the book of Genesis, in which Adam and Eve were originally described as 'both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed'.

Cited:

'It was only after sinfully eating forbidden fruit from the Tree of Knowledge that Adam and Even are said to have seen their nudity as shameful, at which point they sowed fig leaves into loincloths.'

1. Theologically, with the results of the fall, public and corporate nudity appears no longer a Scriptural option.

English Standard Version

Genesis 3:6-7

6 When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was desirable to make one wise, she took from its fruit and ate; and she gave also to her husband with her, and he ate. 7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves [br]loin coverings.

The human body is this present realm is contrasted with the perfection of the resurrection body of 1 Corinthians 15. Verse 43 states the body is sown in dishonour and raised in glory. Dishonour having to do with death, but also as Walsh states it is tied to concepts of being shameful from Romans 1: 26 and of humiliation from Philippians 3: 21.

This in my mind, does not rule out genuine nude art, although not a personal interest, but it does rule out Biblical, public, corporate nudity. Excesses in what is of dishonour.

1 Timothy 2:8-10

8 I desire then that in every place the men should pray, lifting holy hands without anger or quarreling; 9 likewise also that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire, 10 but with what is proper for women who profess godliness—with good works.

Public modesty for women, implied for men...

1 Corinthians 12: 21-24

21 The eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you,” nor again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.” 22 On the contrary, the parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, 23 and on those parts of the body that we think less honorable we bestow the greater honor, and our unpresentable parts are treated with greater modesty, 24 which our more presentable parts do not require.

A Biblical, New Testament model of public modesty.

2. I have, to put it mildly, zero interest in attending any church, any time, with a bunch of fat nude Americans.

I have had several eye surgeries, now finalized and now with my improved looks and vision, I wish to protect my eyes from that which is 'fatastic' as opposed to fantastic...

3. Being naked will not make everyone equal.

Trust me, philosophically I have deduced that much even in my less than married state...

4. It would however, provide certain bodybuilder types with opportunity...

Classic...

Philosophical & Theological Reflections On Satirical Images: World Maps

Observations on Iceland from Facebook and Blogger. Do all the women there look like Cinderella? Are they all as crazy as Bjork? Are they man-eating mermaids? Scandinavia and related is interesting, but the Viking connections are a little scary. Would I be the ugliest person there? A way to be noticed I suppose...

Opines On Super Bowl Sunday

Google+Reminds of a certain winding road  in Washington  State after the Rush concert...

Seattle Seahawks versus Denver Broncos in the Super Bowl

Canadian Football League, Grey Cup equivalent...

Calgary Stampeders versus British Columbia Lions, minus several hundred million dollars in franchise values...

Looks like the Broncos spent a bit more on logo design than the Stampeders. I have liked the Calgary logo though, but it is more simplistic than the Denver logo.

I am not a American Football or Canadian Football fan. I will usually watch the Super Bowl and that is about it.

Of course I like European Football, but too bad Manchester United has tanked. Glad for the Arsenal and Bayern Munich.

By the way, at secondary school I saw the Seattle Seahawks play the British Columbia Lions...at basketball.

Lions won, which would not be the case in an American football game. In a Canadian game, the Lions might have a slight chance.

Woody Allen: The Star

'NEW YORK—Dylan Farrow renewed molestation allegations against Woody Allen, claiming the movie director sexually assaulted her when she was 7 after he and actress Mia Farrow adopted her. In an open letter to The New York Times posted online Saturday, Dylan Farrow made her first public comments about the 1992 incident. In a letter to op-ed columnist Nicholas Kristof, she said she was moved to speak out because of Hollywood’s continued embrace of Allen.'

'Allen was investigated on child molestation claims for the alleged 1992 incident in Connecticut, but prosecutors elected not to charge him.'

'The 1992 allegation came shortly after Allen became involved with Mia Farrow’s adopted daughter, Soon-Yi Previn. Allen, then in his mid-50s, was not the adoptive father of Previn, who was about 19 at the time. The two married in 1997 and have two adopted daughters.'

I make no claims in specific regard to the case, other than it is of course very suspicious. But as a philosopher, theologian and academic I need to be careful opining.

However, Biblically all sexual activity outside of heterosexual adult marriage in sinful (Genesis 2, Exodus 20, Deuteronomy 5, Matthew 5). Matthew 5 indicating sexual thought sin would be a universal human problem even apart from physical acts.

Child to child, pre-puberty sexual attraction, although limited and immature, and again all Biblical sexual activity should be in adult marriage, may be deemed as natural, but adult to child sexual attraction in my mind is obviously sinful and likely I deduce, not being a mental health professional, connected to mental illness as in psychological disorder.

Mental illness not in my mind excluding the guilt of sinful choices. Not an excuse.

A case like this not only demonstrates in general terms, supposed or actual, sexual sin and perversion, but looking at the Biblical verses, the absolute holiness of God in contrast to the universal sinfulness in nature, will and choices of humanity.

Therefore, Romans 1-6, persons are saved through the atonement and the imputed justification and righteousness of Christ.

Not by self-righteousness and works.
