Bullets: In the dog house?

 \

• Video 1: Please pardon the bit of sexual crudeness, contrary to a Christian worldview, the video does not need it.

• The video is from a secular, evolutionary, perspective, but in general, the video reasonably explains why there are many single men in the western world, at present.

• It also reasonably explains that much male depression in the western world, connects to this issue.

• Video 2: I agree with the comments in that (paraphrased) a man should live in his own life as opposed to chasing women.

• But based on the views presented in video 1, being a successful man is no guarantee of a future romantic relationship.

• It is social success which is key, not necessarily all types of success.

• In my humble opinion, there is no sure way to have a woman, or women, chase you as a man.

• A biblical Christian perspective, I hold to, is to seek a wife (1 Corinthians 7) to avoid lust.

• 1 Corinthians 7: 8-9, New American Standard Bible (NASB) 8 But I say to the unmarried and to widows that it is good for them if they remain even as I. 9 But if they do not have self-control, let them marry; for it is better to marry than to burn with passion.\

• But more importantly, is the issue of being equally connected with believers (2 Corinthians 6) .

• Theologically, I would state that biblical marriage should have mutual, spiritual, intellectual and physical attraction within God's perfect will.

• 2 Corinthians 6: 14-15 New American Standard Bible (NASB)14 Do not be [g]mismatched with unbelievers; for what do righteousness and lawlessness share together, or what does light have in common with darkness? 15 Or what harmony does Christ have with [h]Belial, or [i]what does a believer share with an unbeliever? 16 Or what agreement does [j]the temple of God have with idols? For we are [k]the temple of the living God; just as God said,

• g 2 Corinthians 6:14 Lit unevenly yoked

• h 2 Corinthians 6:15 Gr Beliar; a name of the devil and the antichrist

• i 2 Corinthians 6:15 Lit what part has a believer with an unbeliever

• j 2 Corinthians 6:16 Or a temple

• k 2 Corinthians 6:16 Or a temple

Sunday, December 12, 2021: Stating all you need is Jesus, is not the same as stating, all that you need is in Jesus Christ

• Philosophically and theologically, stating all you need is Jesus, is not the same as stating, all that you need is in Jesus Christ.

• If all you need is God/Jesus works as advice for people with a desire unfulfilled, a need unsatisfied, why does it not suffice for the people that have a desire fulfilled and need satisficed?

Brief Friday Bullets: Mr. Charles Nelson Chuckles

• Image one: Thursford-Enchanted-Journey-of-Light Norkfolk, England

• Image two, Facebook: In other words, if someone treats your poorly...

• Do not return evil for evil...

• 1 Peter 3: 9 English Standard Version (ESV) Do not repay evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, bless, for to this you were called, that you may obtain a blessing.

• Romans 12: 17 New American Standard Bible (NASB) Never repay evil for evil to anyone. Respect what is right in the sight of all people.

• Galatians 5: 14 King James Bible (KJV) For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

• This secondary to loving the biblical God, primarily (Matthew 22, Mark 12, Luke 10).

• Image three, Facebook: I do think that many in western society equate being too fat with not being thin enough.

• With not being 'fit'.

• Not always necessarily the same thing...

• Image four, Facebook: Those two German Shepherds, look like they would love for Mr. Charles Nelson Chuckles to attempt one of his deliveries at their estate.

• Granted the You Tube video is not from a biblical worldview.

• It is from a secular, evolutionary worldview (naturalism, my add).

• I do agree with creator's comments that generally, dating is not a good idea for men.

• If a woman is uncertain about me, as a potential romantic partner, why place her under psychological stress to make a decision on me, by asking her on a date?

• I think pretty much all of the creator's non-date options could be perceived as dating or attempts at dating.

• I favour biblical courtship.

• In other words, involving the church and family.

• However, true, good, godly relationships, of any kind, are organic and not forced, coerced or connived.

• I prayerfully, attempt to be Christlike and friendly, and ask God to guide me to like-minded people where there are possibilities for friendship and in rare cases, mutual, spiritual, intellectual and romantic attraction.

• I am very strong on manly traits, although introverted and philosophical.

• Only few intellectual type, women, fit the mold to understand me for a potential romantic relationship.

Death is wondering when it will Chuck Norris

Chuck Norris: Facebook, December 2021

Perrier Delivery Boy

Not really a local Walmart fan. For several reasons. Tight parking, with a SUV sometimes causing me to play 'plastic man' getting in and out of the vehicle, being harassed for change, and inside, the service around the store is not very helpful although the tellers are fine. Bonus, the 'phantom' smells that certain people release while walking the aisles provide a valuable other use for the pandemic masks.

However, I was walking back home from a meeting in downtown Maple Ridge, this afternoon, I realized I needed more Perrier and Walmart often has good deals on Perrier.

Three dollars a box. I walked two blocks of Perrier, that is 60 cans from Walmart in downtown Maple Ridge, 224th street to my condominium on 225th street near the Fraser River.

Another crazy walking story...

Photo 5: Last evening

Thank you to my fine and good, friend and greeter from church for the fine IKEA lunch. Haddock and chips, replacing the chips as I do not do carbs.

Paraphrased Greeter: You look morose when you come to church.

Me: (Smirk, but serious) Yes, I am working on that, prayers appreciated.

(Thinking: Well, it is better than stating: You look gross when you come to church)

Greeter: I know you are a funny guy, I can joke with you.

(This website speaks for itself...)

Seriously, excellent critique. Again, I am working on it, I have been aware of this issue for years. On the bright side, my Russian mobster looks have kept me out of a lot of trouble throughout my life. Bonus, as Miss CIA stated, I have studied problems of evil, and I am contemplative. In my own words, I am philosophical.

Brief Monday Bullets: 2 Corinthians 6

Photo 1: London, Ontario, CTV News, London

Photo 2: christmas-tree-web 2020 NBC 5 Chicago

• Interesting contrast between two recent sermons I have heard, in my humble opinion.

• The other day, online, I listened to an evangelical sermon on a common, specific, area of desire.

• It is in many cases a legitimate need, and a good thing from God.

• There is often a related suffering when the desire and need is not fulfilled.

• This pastor stated (paraphrased) that this certain suffering can be largely, often, caused by idolatry in regards to the desire.

• So, he stated (paraphrased), that all you need is God/Jesus.

(sigh, I have heard this far too often)

• However, there is a serious philosophical contradiction.

• If (paraphrased) all you need is God/Jesus works as advice for  people with this desire unfulfilled, this need unsatisfied, why does it not suffice for the people that have this desire  fulfilled and need satisfied?

• Sadly this sermon like many evangelical sermons, in-part, at least, portrays legitimate suffering and loss as making an idol of something.

• Of course a desire can lead to idolatry, but suffering because of a desire that is an actual ontological (nature, existence) need is not necessarily idolatry.

• As is often the case, once again, leaders in the Christian Church are mishandling the theology/philosophy of religion of problems of evil.

• I, having completed British, PhD/MPhil theses and two questionnaires, reason a major problem is, many evangelicals, in particular, just are not willing to state that God sometimes wills suffering and loss for the sake of sanctification.

• Contrast this sermon with the one from my pastor on Sunday.

• From a solid, Reformed theological perspective.

• Within the sermon, he quotes 2 Corinthians 6: 10 and the context of believers suffering. 10 as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, yet possessing everything. (English Standard Version/ESV)

• I talked briefly with my pastor after his sermon and I mentioned that for example, 'as sorrowful' in 6:10 shows that a Christian can be very sad and yet have the peace and joy of Jesus Christ.

• In other words in Christ, one may simultaneously have misery and joy/peace.

• My pastor agreed.

• 2 Corinthians 6, theologically connects suffering with sanctification in Jesus Christ.

Not for me...

Image one: Facebook, That ain't right, November 29, 2021

Not for me...My low carb, low sugar diet would allow me to eat the beef and maybe one cookie.

It is amazing to me that as the guy nicknamed the Kingpin (like the Marvel villain, but with hair) by Mr. Bobby Buff, I have never been motivated to attempt eating that decadently and I am also turned off by eating competitions.

• I do on this website....

• The photo is from last evening downtown Maple Ridge, just prior to the version on My Story on Facebook.

• Paraphrased from the drive last night, which included taking the photos.
---

• I am only actively interested in true love, not true lust.

• I am finite and sinful.

• Denying God will grant a good thing, does not equate to denying the goodness of God.

• x = God as good

• y = good thing

• x ˜   y
(God as good does not entail a good thing)

• x ˜ ⊃ y
(God as good is not the same as a good thing)

• The point stands, logically and reasonably, but if God promises a thing, God will grant it, eventually.

• 1 John 5:14-15 from the New American Standard Bible

• And this is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked before Him.

• True enough, God usually answers my prayer with a fix.

• I have been 'whitening' my teeth, slightly with product, not 'pretty girl' white though.

• I am not interested in white as snow teeth, for myself.

• My teeth are more shiny as opposed to more white.

• A top of a bottom tooth has recently become translucent, I was concerned.

• The dentist assured me today it was not enamel erosion.

1 Billion from Quebec government for the Nordiques?

Sporstnet November 20 2021: Nordiques return?

Well, that would solve many of the Quebec is too small of a market objections. That 1 billion is not including potential corporate support and ownership of the franchise. Plus a newish arena already exists.

Arnold...

I am hoping to see Steve in Paradise when my life is over in Jesus Christ and his applied gospel work.  Paradise: Luke 23, 2 Corinthians 12,  Philippians 1

My friend told me last night, if our minds were in a (Gold's) gym, my mind would be like an Arnold Schwarzenegger (in body). No, he was not stating I would have a mind like Arnold's.

I am finite and sinful, everything good and bad that happens to me is primarily from God, that is infinite and perfectly holy.

Brief Monday Images: Contrary opinion

Image A: The Rhino, The Bull

Image B: I have studied psychology as a hobby for several years. I subscribed to that gentleman's related You Tube channel last week and that question came up tonight.

To be clear, I really have no particular interest in a waitress (server in Canadian language, he is from Australia) or a lawyer/attorney.

I am not going to try and deduce clearly the psychology behind the two choices, because I do not want to guess. However, I am attracted to Christian intellectuals, and although both a lawyer and a server could be a Christian intellectual, career-wise, in general, a lawyer would more likely be an intellectual.

I do think, based on my years of studying psychology as a hobby, that this poll indicates that many men are not that interested in intellectual women, or highly intelligent women. My contrary opinion has me in the minority.

Trusted might not be too trustworthy

Photo one: My setup
Photo two: London Drugs

I do quite a bit of work on my computer and online. The two previous USB hubs I have owned were plastic and seemed to overheat. This new one is aluminum, which might work better and last longer. Last night, my computer keyboards began malfunctioning. I eventually determined that one of the USB ports was dead. I have three USB ports on my laptop, but I need at least four-five more  ports on a hub, at this point.

I went to the local London Drugs today. The representative suggested a hub system about the same price as the one I purchased, but it only had three two ports in total, not enough. I therefore, bought their own London Drugs 'trusted' brand, hub, which has  seven ports, plus two connections for power. I now have three extra ports.

The representative said to keep the box, because (paraphrased) 'trusted' might not be too trustworthy.

I live in the wilds of Maple Ridge, if someone lives closer to a larger city, closer to Vancouver or Abbotsford, and can suggest a better option, for a USB hub, if this one fails me soon, please feel free to comment or email me at

Short Tuesday Bullets

 Short Tuesday Bullets

• I can sort of relate to the image...

• Friday, January 05, 2018 It's a miracle? (PhD Edit)

• A friend of mine today on Zoom, Sir Robin from Florida (originally England), a history teacher, told me (paraphrased) that I cannot help but state complex things when I teach philosophy of religion, because philosophy of religion has significant complexity.

• Sir Robin stated that I do not make something more complex than it needs to be.

• Complexity is a problem for anyone in complex academic fields, whether science, psychology, philosophy, theology, etcetera that attempts to explain his/her findings and views.

• The gospel here within a Christian worldview assists in particular...

• Ideas should be presented in both love and truth.

• New American Standard Bible (NASB)

• John 13:34-35  34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

• I John 4:20 If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for the one who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen.

• Jesus Christ within the great commandment (Mathew 22, Mark 12, Luke 10), mentions that the second commandment is to love all persons as neighbours as one loves self. The first commandment to love of God with the fullness in mind and spirit.

• This is the God of the Hebrew Bible and New Testament.

Bullet Tuesday: He is even weirder than you (quote)

Photo: Discover Ireland CA Dublin, Facebook

• Dublin is one of my favourite cities to visit, both clean and historical.

• Zoom last Saturday evening (Paraphrased)

• The Rage: Yea my friend, he is even weirder than you. (To me)

• (If by weirder you mean, a Christian theologian and philosopher of religion that does not simply accept all secular, societal standards...agreed)

• Michael: (Laughs)

• The Rage: Yea, he is looking for a potential wife in the Philippines.

• Me: (Laughs) I am not interested. You know, I saw a documentary on that years ago. The man was like 70+ years old and Caucasian living in the Philippines with his Filipina wife, in her 20s or 30s. She was like his servant. (He sat in his chair waiting for her to serve him)

• The Rage: Well, I can pass on his information, if you like.

• Me: No thanks. With my diet and my level of exercise, I think, God willing, I can be as in a good as shape at 80, as now roughly. Roughly in is as good as shape as a much younger woman. (Or youthful woman, if closer in age)

• Me: Yes, I will probably be dead at 90, but I am interested in career women, and they will not be dependent on me for income, and vice-versa.

• Me: I am not interested in paying thousands of dollars to try to interact with people from a vastly different culture and I need spiritual and intellectual compatibility, not a servant or like.

• I am not against vaccinations. I am double vaccinated with Moderna for this pandemic. But, I do find this image amusing.

Friday Bullets: Receiving Facebook Badges/Living in Peace/China

• It has been a very busy last few weeks for me with work and potential more work. A lot of time on the computer.

• Much eye strain...

• But, Facebook to the rescue, handing out badges.

 • My former secondary school friend, now living in Norway, Arne, sent me that first image today. He received a Facebook badge.

• I find this type of promotion from Facebook amusing. Yes, technically it is a Business Page, but I am presenting my academic work from my Blogger website on the page.

• Promotion on my Business Page could result in more related work for me, and certainly has assisted in potential work situations.

• With the second image, I also received a humourous Facebook badge.

• When for a laugh, I have clicked on the Complete Page, supposed link, nothing happens.

• Nor sure what I am supposed to complete, anyway.

• I remember in Cubs we were supposed to earn a set of badges...

• I viewed the news programs from Australia, dated September 20, 2021, last evening on You Tube.

• I am by conversion, baptized within the traditionally, Anabaptist, Mennonite Brethren (MB) Church and have been a member of three MB churches, and I am presently.

• Realistically, theologically, I am more Reformed than Anabaptist, and although not a pacifist, or non-resistant, I do take Anabaptist, biblical calls to live in peace, very seriously.

• New American Standard Bible (NASB) Romans 12: 18: If possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all people.

• I also reason that China's Marxist, communist state is trying to promote its own interests.

• The Western nations are also trying to promote their own interests.

• British philosopher, Blackburn, describes communism as 'A socioeconomic system based on communal ownership and production of goods, communal and self-government....' (70). The entry under Marxism includes that its aims 'toward a revolution of the proletarian' (232). This being working class people.

• Marxism and Communism, including the Chinese version, does have a strong military component and also a strong revolutionary component.

• I have zero interest in living in any kind of Marxist state, may that be a radical socialist or communist state. (I realize that Western states all have more moderate forms of socialism within)

• I do favour a strong Western military defence and deterrent against any non-democratic worldview, including Marxist, communist, fascist or religious.

• I do not favour any form of military imperialism, by any political ideology.

• From: BBC.com July 1 2021 and in agreement with what is documented from the video...

• quote On Thursday Mr Xi said China maintains an "unshakeable commitment" to unification with Taiwan. "No one should underestimate the resolve, the will and ability of the Chinese people to defend their national sovereignty and territorial integrity," he said.

 • quote "Only socialism can save China, and only socialism with Chinese characteristics can develop China," he said, referring to the system under which the party embraced markets to reform the economy. He added that "we will never allow anyone to bully, oppress or subjugate China". "Anyone who dares try to do that will have their heads bashed bloody against the Great Wall of Steel forged by over 1.4 billion Chinese people," he said.
