Any cults here?

Canada Place

Paraphrased discussions from last evening:

Friday night, in transit to Missions Fest:

Chauffeur, James Chuckles I

'Let's take SkyTrain, but they do not sell individual tickets. You do not have a pass like I do, so you will need to buy a refundable twenty dollar pass.'

Me

'If that is true, that is one of the dumbest marketing moves I have ever heard of in my life. In other words, make tourists pay for a pass? That is a good way to be blacklisted in the world.'

SkyTrain thankfully sells passes and tickets.

Chauffeur, James Chuckles I

'I just assumed Vancouver would do something like making everyone buy a pass.'

Friday night, working @ Missions Fest exhibit:

In the booth are representatives from Columbia Bible College, where I earned my Bachelors degree in Biblical Studies.

Me

Joking.

'Yes. CBC is a horrible place.'

Undergrad representative

Taken aback.

Me

I explain I was a satisfied undergrad and am a member of the affiliated denomination.

Undergrad representative

(Laughs) 'Well you never know what someone might say about us.'

Chauffeur James Chuckles I

In dialogue with exhibitor from Ontario.

Me

'Yes, Chuck is a real ethnic Mennonite...'

Chauffeur James Chuckles I

'Yes, I am a Mennonite, but I am not selling 'Coke' here.'

Re: 'Pure' the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, also CBC, drama on Mennonites and the cocaine trade.

Pure

Chauffeur James Chuckles I

'I am going to check out the exhibits.'

Me

'Chuck, see if there are any cults here on exhibit.'
---

Me

Touring exhibits speaking to another exhibitor that I know.

'Have you seen any cults here?'

Exhibitor

With a smirk he alludes to a creation science booth. I reason this is a semi-serious, reference.

'They did come and talk to us though. They seem nice.'

He knows my educational background. He reasons I, like him, would have read significant scholarship opining that not all of Genesis was written plain literally, but rather figurative literally. In particular, Genesis 1-3. Although, certainly not written as myth.

We conclude that even if God made the universe with age, scientists should not be blamed for reasoning, empirically that the universe was billions of years old.

But then again, neither one of us are scientists.

Or Christian Scientists.
