Major Countries & Major Religions (Non-Exhaustive)

Vienna (Google Images)

Source

CIA World Factbook

I am not listing all of the religions cited in most cases.

North America

Canada

'Roman Catholic 42.6%, Protestant 23.3%' '(2001 census)'

Comment: While I was attending a Mennonite Bible School and later a Baptist Seminary a common understanding discussed within the evangelical Church was that true Biblical Christian belief in Greater Vancouver was below 5% based on church attendance and membership. But this is a topic where one could state, 'Only the Lord knows'. Based on my pageviews one would state that percentage wise there are likely not many Christians in Greater Vancouver compared to many other metropolitan areas in the world, especially areas in the United States.

United States of America

'Protestant 51.3%, Roman Catholic 23.9%, Mormon 1.7%' (2007 Estimated)

Comment: Notice the United States has more Protestants than Roman Catholics, which is the opposite of Canada. Also notice the CIA noted The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

The overall number of Protestant Christians is very, very likely of course over-stated as in they are probably not actually Bible-believing Christians but are culturally Christian. However, the overall number of actual Christians in percentage is still much higher than the number in Canada I would deduce. I reason culturally the United States is a more Christianized country than Canada. Again my statscounter and sitemeter can provide me personally an indicator of that as well. But if one merely looked at the CIA statistics it would not strongly enough indicate how much more the United States is culturally Christianized than Canada.

Eastern Europe

Russian Federation

'Russian Orthodox 15-20%, Muslim 10-15%, other Christian 2%' (2006 Estimated)

Comment: Interesting that Islam is now listed second, almost equal to Russian Orthodox as of six years ago.

Ukraine

'Ukrainian Orthodox - Kyiv Patriarchate 50.4%, Ukrainian Orthodox - Moscow Patriarchate 26.1%, Ukrainian Greek Catholic 8%, Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox 7.2%, Roman Catholic 2.2%, Protestant 2.2%' (2006 Estimated).

Comment: I include the Ukraine because I have readers/followers from there and because selfishly writing a satire site my adoption paper states I am half Ukrainian, so obviously it is a major world power. I am intrigued by compared to Russia how Christianized culturally the Ukraine still appears.

Western Europe

United Kingdom

'Christian (Anglican, Roman Catholic, Presbyterian, Methodist) 71.6%, Muslim 2.7%, Hindu 1%'
(2001 Census)

Comment: With the number of Muslims in the United Kingdom presently, just how high will the number rise in percentage for Islam?

Spain

'Roman Catholic 94%, other 6%' (No year cited)

Comment: The rise of Islam is not apparent?

France

'Roman Catholic 83%-88%, Protestant 2%, Jewish 1%, Muslim 5%-10%' (No year cited)

Comment: Interesting...

CBN Islamization of Paris

'PARIS - Friday in Paris. A hidden camera shows streets blocked by huge crowds of Muslim worshippers and enforced by a private security force.

This is all illegal in France: the public worship, the blocked streets, and the private security. But the police have been ordered not to intervene.'

'Muslims are said to be no more than 10 percent of the French population, although no one knows for sure because French law prohibits population counts by religion.'

As discussed on this blog previously perhaps a radical Islamic political group will one day rule a majority and turn France into an Islamic state or perhaps the Muslims in France will become Westernized and France will remain a Western state.

Germany

Protestant 34%, Roman Catholic 34%, Muslim 3.7% (No year cited)

Comment: An Islamic presence but less than that of France.

Austria

'Roman Catholic 73.6%, Protestant 4.7%, Muslim 4.2%' (2001 Census)

Comment: I will use as I am using Vienna photos. Decent Muslim numbers.

Italy

'Roman Catholic 90% (approximately; about one-third practicing), other 10% (includes mature Protestant and Jewish communities and a growing Muslim immigrant community'

Comment: Islam would be deduced to be growing by the growth of the Muslim community. Apparently I am also part Italian according to that piece of paper, so I must include plus I really like Italian and French food.

Sweden

Lutheran 87% (No year cited)

Comment: The adoption paper states I am part Swedish. Apparently they wanted me to go to a Roman Catholic family.... That never happened. So, of course Sweden is a world power according to this blog.

Ireland

'Roman Catholic 87.4%, Church of Ireland 2.9%, other Christian 1.9%' (2006 Census)

Comment: Irish blood yes...the paper. There does not seem to be a significant Islamic influence there. It has been heavily secularized like all of Europe.

South America

Brazil

'Roman Catholic (nominal) 73.6%, Protestant 15.4%' (No year cited)

Comment: Other religions mentioned like spiritualist and voodoo, but not Islam.

Argentina

'nominally Roman Catholic 92% (less than 20% practicing), Protestant 2%, Jewish 2%'

Comment: Not too different than Brazil.

Asia

China

'Daoist (Taoist), Buddhist, Christian 3%-4%, Muslim 1%-2%
note: officially atheis't (2002 Estimated)

Comment: With well over 1 billion persons in population, 3%-4% is still a considerable amount of estimated Christians.

Japan

'Shintoism 83.9%, Buddhism 71.4%, Christianity 2% (2005)

Comment: Many would practice both Japanese Shinto and Buddhism.

Oceania

Australia

'Protestant 27.4% (Anglican 18.7%, Uniting Church 5.7%, Presbyterian and Reformed 3%), Catholic 25.8%, Eastern Orthodox 2.7%, other Christian 7.9%, Buddhist 2.1%, Muslim 1.7%' (2006 Census)

Comment: Does not look like Islam is a major concern yet there...mate.

  1. Years ago my son had a teacher who wanted the class to write a report on a religion of their pick. He wanted to write on atheism, but the teacher forbid it saying that atheism was not a religion.

It would be fun to see an enumeration of atheism and secularism in the religions list. But then there is the religion of Philippians 3:19 that is completely missed: "their god is their stomach".

  2. Then again I did list China and atheism...

    Thank you, sir.

  3. I am not surprised in the difference in % of Protestants between the USA and Canada, considering Canada still has an allegiance to the UK. I like this post.

By the way, I never considered Atheism to be a religion. I always thought it to be the opposite of religion.

  4. Thank you my friend.

Atheism would be a philosophy and worldview and would enter in the philosophy of religion discussion/discipline without technically being a religion.

    Thank you very much.;)

  7. Does anyone have any idea who does all these (polls) and (Stats) that people quote? And how exactly do they work? I am 42 years old. I have never in my life been polled or quizzed and off all the churchs I have been to in my travels and moving so often, never meet a church pastor or anyone who has been asked any of these questions for research.

    Thanks.

  8. Good point, Rick. I have been involved in two questionnaire projects with my MPhil and PhD research but small scale compared to what statistics the CIA would supposedly keep.

    Cheers.

  11. As discussed on this blog previously perhaps a radical Islamic political group will one day rule a majority and turn France into an Islamic state or perhaps the Muslims in France will become Westernized and France will remain a Western state.

"Islam has religious, legal, political, economic and military components. The religious component is a beard for all the other components.

Islamization occurs when there are sufficient Muslims in a country to agitate for their so-called 'religious rights.'

When politically correct and culturally diverse societies agree to 'the reasonable' Muslim demands for their 'religious rights,' they also get the other components under the table. Here's how it works (percentages source CIA: The World Fact Book (2007)).

As long as the Muslim population remains around 1% of any given country they will be regarded as a peace-loving minority and not as a threat to anyone. In fact, they may be featured in articles and films, stereotyped for their colorful uniqueness:

    United States -- Muslim 1.0%
    Australia -- Muslim 1.5%
    Canada -- Muslim 1.9%
    China -- Muslim 1%-2%
    Italy -- Muslim 1.5%
    Norway -- Muslim 1.8%

At 2% and 3% they begin to proselytize from other ethnic minorities and disaffected groups with major recruiting from the jails and among street gangs:

    Denmark -- Muslim 2%
    Germany -- Muslim 3.7%
    United Kingdom -- Muslim 2.7%
    Spain -- Muslim 4%
    Thailand -- Muslim 4.6%

From 5% on they exercise an inordinate influence in proportion to their percentage of the population.

They will push for the introduction of halal (clean by Islamic standards) food, thereby securing food preparation jobs for Muslims. They will increase pressure on supermarket chains to feature it on their shelves -- along with threats for failure to comply. ( United States ).

    France -- Muslim 8%
    Philippines -- Muslim 5%
    Sweden -- Muslim 5%
    Switzerland -- Muslim 4.3%
    The Netherlands -- Muslim 5.5%
    Trinidad &Tobago -- Muslim 5.8%

At this point, they will work to get the ruling government to allow them to rule themselves under Sharia, the Islamic Law. The ultimate goal of Islam is not to convert the world but to establish Sharia law over the entire world.

    (cont.)

  12. (cont.)

When Muslims reach 10% of the population, they will increase lawlessness as a means of complaint about their conditions ( Paris --car-burnings). Any non-Muslim action that offends Islam will result in uprisings and threats ( Amsterdam - Mohammed cartoons).

    Guyana -- Muslim 10%
    India -- Muslim 13.4%
    Israel -- Muslim 16%
    Kenya -- Muslim 10%
    Russia -- Muslim 10-15%

After reaching 20% expect hair-trigger rioting, jihad militia formations, sporadic killings and church and synagogue burning:
    Ethiopia -- Muslim 32.8%

At 40% you will find widespread massacres, chronic terror attacks and ongoing militia warfare:

    Bosnia -- Muslim 40%
    Chad -- Muslim 53.1%
    Lebanon -- Muslim 59.7%

From 60% you may expect unfettered persecution of non-believers and other religions, sporadic ethnic cleansing (genocide), use of Sharia Law as a weapon and Jizya, the tax placed on infidels:

    Albania -- Muslim 70%
    Malaysia -- Muslim 60.4%
    Qatar -- Muslim 77.5%
    Sudan -- Muslim 70%

After 80% expect State run ethnic cleansing and genocide:

    Bangladesh -- Muslim 83%
    Egypt -- Muslim 90%
    Gaza -- Muslim 98.7%
    Indonesia -- Muslim 86.1%
    Iran -- Muslim 98%
    Iraq -- Muslim 97%
    Jordan -- Muslim 92%
    Morocco -- Muslim 98.7%
    Pakistan -- Muslim 97%
    Palestine -- Muslim 99%
    Syria -- Muslim 90%
    Tajikistan -- Muslim 90%
    Turkey -- Muslim 99.8%
United Arab Emirates -- Muslim 96%

100% will usher in the peace of 'Dar-es-Salaam' -- the Islamic House of Peace -- there's supposed to be peace because everybody is a Muslim:

    Afghanistan -- Muslim 100%
    Saudi Arabia -- Muslim 100%
    Somalia -- Muslim 100%
    Yemen -- Muslim 99.9%

Of course, that's not the case. To satisfy their blood lust, Muslims then start killing each other for a variety of reasons."

  14. I first tried this product when visiting in Portland and mistakenly assumed this product left my hair so nice-to-the-touch because the Oregon water was so soft. Not so. Using it in my own hometown, I have had the same results -- soft, natural curls. Too many styling products on the market leave hair stiff and crinkly. Moroccan Oil Intense Curl Cream is well worth the cost. Be advised that only a dime-size amount is necessary to great results on The Lochness Monster

  15. Canada? Thirteen million people in Southern Ontario and no second team, Phoenix vs. Nashville in the Quarter Finals. That is the NHL for you...
And I have no allegiance to Southern Ontario, just to common sense.

  18. I have been searching for the perfect curl cream for most of my 33 year lifespan and I believe I

have found it in this product! I have a lot of fine naturally curly hair and this cream is great. Keep in mind, however, that a little goes a LONG way! For example, my hair is down past the middle of my back

and I use approximately 2 teaspoons. I apply it when my hair is wet, right out of the shower, and then just scrunch with a towel and that is all the product I need! It is a little costly, but this bottle

  19. This is the best thing ever!! I live in FLorida where it is hot and humid....I have no air

conditioning in my car so I have to drive with the windows down...I have very curly, thick, and out of control hair...with all these elements it is hard to find something to make my hair stay straight. This

worked...I drove on the highway with my windows down in nice hot humid weather and it is still as perfect as when I straightened it 2 days ago!! Buy this product it is worth the money!!!

    Now you are stating...

Sadly your second comment with my cynical side is reminding me of the computer game Saint Uncle Chucklins and I played called ‘Blood’ (1997) and one of the lines in the game was from a character that stated 'I'll swallow your soul'. Seems to me it was a walking talking 'hand' that went for the neck. I played the game to its completion a few times, but it is one of those things that was fun while it lasted but will very likely not be revisited. A bit too dark in hindsight and now dated as it even had poor graphics for 1997.
