Soccer Turban Ban?

The Norwalk Island, India-trekearth

Quebec City-trekearth

I have been working on a potential academic journal article from Chapter One of my Doctorate. I therefore as well as working out as usual, and my usual other work, thought presenting a light posting may be in order if I could find one. I then came across this 'winner', especially the YouTube videos...

From TSN

Quoted header:

'CSA SUSPENDS QUEBEC SOCCER FEDERATION OVER TURBAN BAN'

My first thought was...what another waste of time conflict over something stupid.

Quote:

'MONTREAL -- The Canadian Soccer Association has red carded a provincial association over its refusal to let turban-wearing children play, announcing the Quebec organization will be suspended until the ban is overturned. The national organization took a more aggressive stance Monday in the ongoing controversy surrounding the Quebec Soccer Federation's decision to restrict turban-wearing Sikhs from the pitch, saying its earlier efforts had failed to resolve the matter.'

What is the Quebec Soccer Federation afraid that Sikh children cannot head the ball properly?

Whether someone agrees with the turbans or Sikhism or not, turbans are not, from my understanding, going to effect children playing soccer/football and should be a non-issue.

As well, it does become a freedom of religion issue, as in freedom to practice a culturally established religion in everyday life without significant restriction and persecution.

Quote:

'The national organization said last week it expected the Quebec association to reverse the ban, which has drawn international news coverage and condemnation from several federal politicians.'

Quote:

'It has said it is concerned about safety and points out that the rules of the world governing body, FIFA, don't specifically allow turbans. Critics of the Quebec decision point out that FIFA's rules don't explicitly ban turbans, either.'

Quote:

'The CSA reports directly to the FIFA world body and is responsible for granting or revoking the membership of provincial federations. The World Sikh Organization of Canada has expressed its sadness over the decision to suspend the Quebec Soccer Federation, and has again urged the QSF to immediately lift its turban ban.'

  13. He accepts the repentance of His creatures, of whomever He chooses of His servants. We might be alive during this Ramadan but what is the guarantee that we will reach the next Ramadan. 14. A reply from the New Testament:

    Ephesians 2:8-10
    New American Standard Bible (NASB)
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and [a]that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; 9 not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.

I do hold to Islam for many reasons including Christ was the fulfillment as the Messiah through the Old Testament/Hebrew Biblical line of David in the Gospels. Through his death, atonement and resurrection (Romans, Hebrews) he with God the Father and God the Holy Spirit, established the new covenant and so further revelation or new religion was not needed and shall never be needed. Some of his work was completed in the First Advent and some will be completed with the Second Advent and following.

As far as the "99 names of Allah," one of Allah's 99 names translates as the Deceiver (i.e., Al-Makir is listed as one of Allah's 99 names, and Lane's Lexicon for Makr and the Hans Wehr dictionary both confirm the meaning of the term to be "Deceiver"). Why would someone follow such a deity?

Beyond that, 'Allah' is the first of the 99 names. It is also said in Islam that there is a secret, one-hundredth (100th) name of God. To the one who knows this hundredth name of God, eternity in paradise is promised. An old Muslim proverb declares that “Allah has one hundred names. And...he has revealed 99 of his names to the sons of men that they may know and worship him. But one name, the one-hundredth name, he has told only to the camel. And, the camel, he is not talking.”

Regarding repentance and..."of whomever He chooses of His servants," according to Islam, Allah's mercy may tip the balances, but it is arbitrary and uncertain. Paradise is only guaranteed to those who die in Jihad.

A Muslim, deep down in his heart, is not sure of his salvation. He has no assurance. Even Muhammad did not know what would happen to him in the afterlife. Why would you trust someone with your eternal security who was not even sure about his own salvation?

Christians, however, know the one-hundredth name of God: It is Jesus Christ.

Jesus claimed to know where He came from and where He was going, while Muhammad was not sure about his destiny, nor the destiny of his followers. John 3:15 says, "That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life." John 3:18 says, "He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." Jesus says in John 3:36, "He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him."

Jesus said, "I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again." (John 3:3) And again Jesus says, "I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit." (John 3:5) And yet again he says, "Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit." (John 3:6)

Jesus came as the Savior of mankind. If you will accept Him as your Lord and Savior, He will give you the assurance of eternal life. 1 John 5:13 says, "These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God." Not that you may hope that you might have eternal life, but that you may know. Only Jesus can give assurance of eternal life in Paradise.

I agree there is no safety issue. But I guess it could be possible to gain some advantage with a concealed spring in a turban, to give headers that extra boost.

Satirically, perhaps one could place some kind of hard hat under the turban to give advantage with headers...
