Friendly flyers
Delta |
On the 28th, I was heading home via Delta Airlines from Salt Lake City (SLC) to Vancouver (YVR).
I had an aisle seat and a male millennial with an American accent had the window seat. Then a quite young, blonde female, likely generation Z, sat between us carrying a blanket. She was very kind and friendly.
A woman, approximately my age, sat in the row of seats in front of us, also very kind and friendly. She smiled and stated to me (paraphrased): She (her daughter I deduce) will share her blanket with you and she likes to cuddle.
During the flight, I did talk with the daughter a bit, but we mostly individually napped. At the end of the flight the mother asked me if her daughter has shared her blanket and cuddled. She then asked me if I was from Utah, as they were. She also mentioned, as I had made buddies with a little girl, toddler in the row behind me (Daughter of my nephew's cousin and family), that they had a little girl too in the back with grandma.
Did I read like an executive of perhaps a certain religion?
Was that her little girl or her daughter's?

Televangelist needs a $50 million dollar plus, private jet

'It's what Jesus would do': Televangelist asks followers for $54m to buy private jet

The televangelist went on to say God told him he needed the Dassault Falcon 7X. “He told me: ‘Jesse, you want to come up to where I’m at?’ He said: ‘Before you ask, I’ll answer: Isaiah 65:24.’ He said: ‘I want you to believe me for a Falcon 7X.’"

He added: “I really believe that if Jesus was physically on the Earth today he wouldn’t be riding a donkey. Think about that for a minute. He’d be in an aeroplane preaching the gospel all over the world.”

And why exactly cannot Pastor Jesse fly commercial airlines? He should save up for a private jet out of his own salary and leave his flock out of it...
Clearly a reasonable and short study of the four gospels will determine that Jesus was on foot in much of his ministry. Jesus largely walked within his ministry. A humble mode of travel. A humble ministry of conservative, financial means.
I am not opposed to wealth, but considering the warnings below (non-exhaustive from the Scripture), excessive wealth in ministry is a definite problematic evil, if not handled correctly through the guidance of the Holy Spirit. I suggest, modelling Christ's humble approach.
James 5 English Standard Version (ESV)
5 Come now, you rich, weep and howl for the miseries that are coming upon you. 2 Your riches have rotted and your garments are moth-eaten. 3 Your gold and silver have corroded, and their corrosion will be evidence against you and will eat your flesh like fire. You have laid up treasure in the last days. 4 Behold, the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you kept back by fraud, are crying out against you, and the cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord of hosts. 5 You have lived on the earth in luxury and in self-indulgence. You have fattened your hearts in a day of slaughter. 6 You have condemned and murdered the righteous person. He does not resist you.
1 Timothy 6:10 English Standard Version (ESV)
10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.

Lobster Man?
I took two hours to walk to the Salt Lake City Temple. I took two tours. I witnessed and talked bible and biblical and Reformed theology with on site Latter-Day Saints, Sisters also known as missionaries. I also talked with someone else taking a tour. The Sisters are very friendly. I passed on my online information in regard to academic work.
It was a very good life experience. I underestimated the sun but did avoid becoming Lobster Man. I did walk back to my motel as well...This is a good way to see a city.

Salt Lake City
Thousand wonders.com |
Early Thursday morning, for the second time, I am flying to Salt Lake City, Utah. The first time, as noted on my other website archives, was in 2009 and I was only at the (SLC) airport on the way to Phoenix.
When I am not at family wedding events, I hope to use my Android to take some Latter-Day Saints related photos and perhaps post with some comments.
Today |
Photos from today. The mighty Fraser. I took a one hour plus walk for a haircut and a futile attempt to find the phantom, bogus address Canpar gave me in order to pick-up my parcel from work.
With their documentation and when I called them, Canpar provided no address, only two street names and the name 'JV". How unprofessional dealing with a corporate account. This after they refused to leave my parcel from Toronto at my residence when I was away at work in Vancouver.

Nietzsche and future humanity
Cited
Nietzsche claimed the exemplary human being must craft his/her own identity through self-realization and do so without relying on anything transcending that life—such as God or a soul. This way of living should be affirmed even were one to adopt, most problematically, a radical vision of eternity, one suggesting the "eternal recurrence" of all events. According to some commentators, Nietzsche advanced a cosmological theory of “will to power.” But others interpret him as not being overly concerned with working out a general cosmology.

I have been pondering on some recent descriptions I have heard of Nietzsche and his philosophy and this citation reads like much of the views within modern Western society.

Two red cards, five goals, five minute match, changed rules: Chucky blew his top
In regard to British, Actua Soccer (1996) and Actua Soccer 3 (1998). Actua Soccer 3 from today...
A few months ago I bought new IFYOO gamepads for my Windows 10 laptop, and old Windows XP desktop from 2000. The gamepads on the XP changed how Actua Soocer 3 (1998) is played. The huge curved shots are no longer possible to use and the shooting is now more realistic. I can now safely state that after months of practice with an altered game, after playing with the old rules since 1998, I have mastered the new way the game is played. But it is more difficult to score, but now only slightly.
For whatever bizarre reason, my Actua and UEFA soccer posts receive better than average pageviews, so I post this as a public service. I have managed to finally find a PC version of of Actua Soccer (1996) which I originally played on UMAX, a Mac clone. This too has new rules of playing, but this is mainly that the speed is increased and the opponents are better quality than previously.
It is also a very difficult game at times.
Chucky actually blew his top, he was so frustrated with the computer simulation and cheating with the new Actua Soccer (1996).
I would like to post an entry reviewing Actua Soccer (1996), it is actually the American, Virtual Soccer 96, version, but need to find a decent way to film it and my record screen software does not work. Cheap... I apologize for the quality of this recording, but, how the game works can be seen.
In the works are plans to find a workable (Windows 10 or Windows XP) version of Actua Soccer 2 (1997) and attempt to master it. I have never played it...

Friendly Neighbourhood Speedy Delivery Service
Rush: Photos from each tour and a platinum record |
My friendly neighbours, Mr. Rogers/Walter Thomas Franklin and his second son, Buff Junior, through the Friendly Neighborhood Speedy Delivery Service, dropped off this fine piece of art this afternoon and then placed it measured on my loft wall.
They were Moving Pictures...
Well, actually, they phoned me about it, drove me to the shop where it was for sale, and I bought it for a good price. They then measured and placed it on my wall.

KJV translated into Biblical Hebrew and Greek
Babylonbee May 9
At Bible study, Charles Nelson Chuckles reported this sensational story to me...

King James Version Finally Translated Into Biblical Greek, Hebrew
Cited
U.S.—The entire Old and New Testaments as rendered in the King James Version of the Bible have at long last been translated into biblical Greek and Hebrew, sources confirmed Friday.
After years of working on the historic translation, scholars confirmed they had translated the entirety of the Christian Bible from the original Authorized Version into the ancient biblical languages, including Greek, Hebrew, and small sections of Aramaic. Consumer copies of the Bibles are now available for purchase.
“If only we had completed this translation before Koine Greek fell out of use, the people who lived during New Testament times could have heard the gospel,” Pastor Steven Anderson said in a YouTube video. “Sad!”
Scholars reportedly had great difficulty with the translation, as no version of the Bible has ever been translated into Koine Greek or biblical Hebrew before. Those behind the translation expressed their desire for even people who speak the original biblical languages to be able to experience the glory of the Word of God as rendered in the re-inspired Authorized Version.
This will all make more sense in an upcoming Avengers film, where the team uses Dr. Doom's Time Platform, when he is not at his castle and is instead trying to take over the world. The Avengers use the Time Platform to meet with King James, in 1611 AD/CE, take a copy of the King James Bible back to approximately 2000 BC/BCE and leave these Biblical documents with Abraham.
The rest is history...

A problem with trying to win at all costs, with what one can get away with
I was working yesterday and did not see any of the highlights of the game. Brad Marchand is an excellent player, but licking an opponent in the face in an attempt to gain a psychological edge, is psychologically and spiritually sick.
A win at virtually all costs, with what one can get away with, mentality, shown by some adults while playing ball hockey, was one of the reasons I grew tired of the sport. As a Christian, I need to mature in Christ, and those types of antics drag me back to my childhood.
These types of antics promote self-glorification over seeking the glory of God.

Garbage Guts stirs up Christian singles
Sections...from a Facebook page, continued from previous entry:
Russ Murray
The idea of deserving someone based on attributes is twisted philosophy based on MVD...
Garbage Guts
I'm afraid I have to agree with Russ on this one unfortunately. The idea that we are inherently valuable, especially compared to others based on anything outside of the gospel is something that should trouble us all greatly.
Russ Murray
In Christ..we should look for quality biblical attributes where there is mutual attraction. It should not be fueled by a deserve philosophy.
Russ Murray
Hi... market value dating...my term based on study...online mostly.
Comment
Russ Murray so you don’t think our society is plagued by the idea that we can replace anybody? In my grandparent’s era it was about fixing rather than replacing. Is there a Bible verse/chapter Dr. Russ that it talks about this? I know that I have read that divorce in the Bible has some stipulations and in Mark 10:12 says that if a divorced woman marries another man, she commits adultery. So does that mean Christian women who find themselves divorced, in this day and age, simply cannot re-marry?
Russ Murray
We are not writing about the same thing...
Comment
Russ Murray is that why there are many single Christians? They find the quality Biblical attributes in a person but not the attraction and vice versa? So how would you help the singles community to find that balance?
Russ Murray
I would deduce we are all influenced by a worldly approach. We need the Holy Spirit and Scripture to set us free.
Garbage Guts
Well... The first thing I would say is try to read the scriptures in context. Simply reading "The Bible" is a bad way to do that. For example, the question you asked Russ Murray about Divorce and remarriage; I'd say it's the wrong question.
The context of that passage is that the Jewish teachers of the law are discussing the Mosaic Covenant concerning divorce (Deuteronomy 24). So the law teachers are discussing what the acceptable parameters are for a man to give his wife a certificate of divorce.
Jesus then steps into that conversation between the Jewish teachers. The interesting thing is that he actually goes BACK to the scriptures. He references the Scriptures (Genesis 2:24), to point them to what exactly God's intention is for marriage.
So the conclusion I'd draw from Jesus teachings in the Bible is that in regards to your question, your Grandparents were very much following a Biblical perspective towards marriage.
I think that just the way Jesus used the scriptures to challenge everything the Jews had known and discussed for thousands of years, we can be challenged sometimes to look at our lives and opinions in light of scripture.
Garbage Guts
There's some really great books out there that can help give you an idea. "Multiply" by Francis Chan was a great book James, Matt and I did it with Reality. I think we all found it really useful. .

Klaus Von Chuckles stirs it up on Christian singles
UBC: Tuesday |
Comments off of a local Christian Singles, Facebook page, where I have had some debates with some attempting to lead over the years...
Klaus Von Chuckles
Desire and ability to have children is a significant factor for a lot of guys, who were unable to marry young.
Russ Murray
Nailed it sir, generally, in the Church, in my circles, I have found often men over 35 that had a younger wife and children, if they had to do it again, state they would date and marry someone their age.
Some of us over 35, are fine with dating/marriage within our age and some would like to have dating and marriage options with someone younger...
But this is generally not how it is done in Western society, so for some, such as myself with a PhD in Theology and Philosophy,(very philosophical) that is not six pack, this makes the pool in the Christian community tiny. IMHO, this explains why some men do not 'man up'. Sure, some are not showing initiative, but I reason others are just discouraged and therefore being more pragmatically disinterested. It is not worth it, they deduce.
I do agree, in Christ, men should also seek to be better...
On my blogs, I have expressed my concern with the attitude of some in the Church that overly embrace market value dating (MVD), as in one should date someone of same age, same level of looks etc...This is more so, people in the Church embracing worldly standards. When I look at the Bible, it seems that mutual spiritual, intellectual and physical attraction should be what is embraced theologically. When those in the Church attempt to push to an extreme MVD on us (John Wee Howard James Bartel and myself) have found it offensive and discouraging.
Aged men (mentally and physically unable) would seem to be men disqualified from marriage and having children, based on a biblical worldview, not simply hitting a certain number.
Russ Murray
Gina Leanne Cia yes some people need to grow into it. Perhaps some men are slow at this and this is why many men can procreate at later ages. God knows.
Russ Murray
Kattia FG One has to be fit and youthful. As I noted...not aged.
Russ Murray
Yes, winning is being within the close to perfect will of God, single or not. Thanks James Clarke
Russ Murray
Gina Leanne Cia yes, I have seen such studies, Age is a factor, and another reason why a youthful older man alone is a good prospect. Youthful in many ways. 'Experts said that the finding was hardly reason to forgo fatherhood later in life, though it might have some influence on reproductive decisions.' Did I mention I walked outside for a couple of hours in the heat today in Vancouver? My head says it is (hot), but the kingpin stood tall..
Russ Murray
Chucky!!! Look what you caused!
Russ Murray
If I could just find that female PhD in Theology/Philosophy with the kingpin bod, I could play by the Market Value Dating (MVD) rules. Of course, this is a major unsupported assumption that we would have mutual attraction. (John Wee Howard James Bartel) Possible, but not supported.
Russ Murray
Kattia FG: I have studied this topic since 1999 online...
Gina Leanne Cia
Remember Russ Murray! I'm a huge theology nerd despite having a mere 1yr certificate. Today, I was thinking of how St. Athanasius would dismantle Oneness Pentecostalism.
Russ Murray
Gina Leanne Cia: Boyd did....
Klaus Von Chuckles
Russ Murray: lol
Klaus Von Chuckles
Gina Leanne Cia: I was laughing about Russ’ reference to his MVD female match.
