Selfishness

Thank you to Philip H. for sending this clip to me.

Perhaps this clip in a way satirically points out some of the human selfishness in our world.

Jesus concerning the commandments of God from the New American Standard Bible:

Mark 12:29-31

Jesus answered, "The foremost is, 'Hear, O Israel! The Lord our God is one Lord:
And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.'"

"The second is this. 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these."

Matthew 22:40 includes:

"On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets."

  1. Some thoughts:

Selfishness is a personal struggle and philosophically in being "I" it is somewhat natural to look at my needs first. However, Biblically speaking God commands his followers to love God and others and so I prayerfully ask God for help in following these commandments.

Although staying polite, I have had some minor attitude attacks while flying and have dumped Air Transat in favour of Air Canada. Transat to me was Air Sardine Can because that is what it felt like I was traveling with them. I am 5 foot 10, 230 pounds and I need leg room and space! I also think that when one is paying good money for a flight there should be drinks and snack for short flights and quality meals for longer flights. I know Air Canada receives some bad press, but I have been pleased with the service they have provided me.

  5. Russ, on Love your neighbor as you would love yourself: I am very hesitant to say that to some folks. I think I need to teach them to love theirself properly before attempting to love me:)

  6. Thanks Rabbit,

Yes, obeying this commandant of Christ is often made difficult by the actions and attitudes of others. Prayer is essential in this matter.
