Exit Stage Left medley
Rush performing By-Tor & Snow Dog/In The End/In The Mood/2112 Grand Finale Exit Stage Left, The Forum in Montreal, Quebec on March 27, 1981
The medley itself is one of my favourite pieces of music, and is also featured on the Red Barchetta unofficial CD. I especially appreciate the guitar solos on By-Tor and Grand Finale which are very impressive. I like the rhythmic nature of the Grand Finale solo which is played fast, but still slower than the version on All the World's a Stage, the official live album from 1976. The red star in the video is one of the band's logos and is not directly related to the occult, but rather is the Red Star of the Solar Federation from the 2112 album.
It must be mentioned that symbols and words should always be understood in their context.
According to: http://www.answers.com/topic/2112 In the year 2062, a galaxy-wide war results in the union of all planets under the rule of the Red Star of the Solar Federation. The world is controlled by the Priests of the Temples of Syrinx, who determine all reading matter, songs, pictures . . . everything connected with life during the year 2112 ("The Temples of Syrinx").

I think I have perhaps seen that type of orange jacket before in person...
ReplyDeleteIn the early 1990's I went along with Chucky to a meeting for those that use Amiga Computers. This strange guy wearing the Lifeson like orange jacket would continually interrupt the meeting with his sometimes bizarre comments. At one point a person mentioned the IBM PC Junior computer, and the guy in the orange jacket laughed and stated something along the lines that only losers owned one of those. The IBM PC Junior was my computer at the time.:) Perhaps the stange guy was a Rush fan.
Man, I LOVE Rush! I discovered them about ten years ago, and they're sweet. I've always wanted to cover Bastille Day and Xanadu, in some kind of weird electronic remix style. Sweet video!
ReplyDeleteThanks David,
ReplyDeleteI have seen Rush 5 times, including twice in the USA. As you can see in the following link, I have a lot of their unofficial material as well. There are some good concerts from radio shows and video.

There was a funny but interesting thing mentioned by a person at church today. He stated that he had commented on this blog a couple of times recently, and I might add, has commented on thekingpin68 blog as well. He thought that some of the other comments were strange and wondered how people had the time to comment on blogs. Well, strange comments for this blog are expected I suppose as it is a satire blog.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate his blog comments and all of yours. If I publish a comment I basically appreciate it, even if I don't always totally agree with what was written. As a blogger it is important to receive comments from others, otherwise I might as well have a website where there is no interaction. I also will comment on certain other blogs in order to support their work and hopefully receive support back. To me blogging is a hobby, and as the person at church wisely recognized, a way for me get my theological writings better known. I thank all my supporters and look to continue to support the blogs of like minded people.
