  1. I think that these FIFA world rankings should be abandoned. If a country/team such as Italy goes through World Cup qualifying and eventually wins the World Cup, they should be considered the world champions without a separate competing ranking. It appears from the media that many football scholars believe that Brazil has the most good players, but Brazil were not the most successful team in the last World Cup. The fact that they stayed as the highest ranked team after being knocked out of the last World Cup shows a weakness in the ranking system. I dislike the ranking system, but at least the actual FIFA World Champions are presently ranked first.
