Recent short comments on society

Dubai photos

If I lived in one of these houses my daily exercise could consist of swimming laps between my house and the ones across the water. Perhaps I would fish for some meals. I would not want to live in a Muslim country, but I must admit that Dubai does show some ingenuity. If one has guests using the washrooms there would always be alternatives.

Below are some recent comments I have made on other blogs. These are replies I have made to articles written by others, and I provide the blog links.

Comments appreciated.:)

In regard to Christianity and influence in society:

september-1960.html

Few desire church and state to exist as one, or two very closely associated entities. Western countries are primarily influenced by secular philosophy and any notable reliance on religious philosophy is most often viewed as a potential endorsement of a religion. As Christians of the moderate right and left that hold to Biblical concepts we can hope for greater religious influence upon the state without having the state endorse a religion/denomination. In Greater Vancouver where I live the secular philosophy within society is being exposed as greatly contributing to the break down of morality and the family unit.

Comments concerning political candidates who openly express realities:

election.html

I wonder how truthful and open with the realities of government a person can be and still get elected in today's western political climate. In Canada, I would reason changes have to take place in government and judicial systems in order for progress to be made in many areas such as dealing with crime.

My thoughts on creation:

http://sanctifusion.blogspot.com/2008/02/who-am-i.html

Even if I was not a Christian, I would at least be a theist and perhaps a deist since it seems more reasonable the source of finite matter is an infinite, eternal being, rather than the Universe existing from nothing, being unplanned.

I present an opinion on why there is a connection between being liberal politically and theologically. I did not have moderate liberal Christian believers in mind when I wrote this comment.

It seems often that liberal types in general terms both theologically and politically, downplay human evil and assume that human vices are normal and acceptable. In contrast, conservatives may struggle with the same vices but often see them as wrong. It is therefore no surprise that Hollywood and the Porn Palaces support the more liberal Democrats.

  1. That is too cool. It would stink if there were a hurricane, though...

  2. Yes, David, you could be going for a real long swim. Perhaps you should have a small boat to escape by water if needed. With your very vivid and artistic imagination, if you had the cash, some kind of back up rocket pack would be a good idea for removing yourself from that situation as well.

    Russ;)

By the way, you may be expected to where a shirt, even on-line, if you live in Dubai.

  3. Thanks for the link, Russ.

Dubai is interesting. I watched a Discovery Channel special last year on the building of the Burj Dubai (or however it's spelled). The Emirati people certainly do have architectural imagination (and engineering skills). But yeah, hurricanes would not be fun. Nor would the crazy dust storms they can get when the wind comes the wrong way.

The UAE is interesting as a country in itself, however. It is extremely tolerant, almost---dare I say---Western in its social practices.

  4. Thanks, Jake. You are welcome.

I gathered that the UAE was likely quite tolerant for a Muslim country. Since you support my notion, I therefore have another funny idea. I am not a huge drinker, and I only drink alcohol occasionally, but I could see one of those homeowners becoming drunk and driving into the ocean or a swimming pool!

  5. Theodicy, eh?

I thought that was an epic poen written by Homer.

  6. Oh no, I missed that work in all my years of study! Actually the work is called Odyssey.

    Thanks, Baba.

  7. ironic that such regal waste can occur in a country so rimmed by haters of western excess. i think it's time to send in the ninjas to restore order to these warped islands.

  8. Thanks for reading my article, InnerNinja.

This site is hopefully about positive dialogue between those within the Christian Church and dialogue between Christians and those of other views. I have nothing against the UAE or Dubai. I do believe that law and order must be maintained by the West and support government efforts against radical Islam when it opposes and threatens Western democracy.

    LOL!

    Cool photos too!

If you want to watch the demise of a culture/country, keep your eyes on the U.S. We're headed downhill fast, and I think the speed at which we've been falling in recent years will be increasing. NOT that I'm looking forward to it...

Thanks for the comments you left on my blog site. That's a cool idea that you listed the comments you've made on some sites, and posted the links to those sites. If any of my comments were actually noteworthy, I would probably try doing that on my own blog site.

  10. Thanks, Jeff.

Your blog is high quality and I appreciate your comments. I publish comments from other blogs in blog postings sometimes to provide wider exposure of some ideas and since I reason that I am too busy with other things to do research. This is the case now.

I fear the demise of the Western World and what will replace it.

  11. Thanks, Russ, for your kind compliment!

Some have said that the current Western world (esp. the U.S.) is akin to the ancient Roman Empire, and will suffer basically the same fate. It's a scary thought, but I fear that it may very well be true. The question is, though, how long will it take?

  12. Cheers, Jeff.

I am not an expert on eschatology, but it is a field of study that interests. Being that North American nations originate from Europe it is possible they could be part of a revitalized Roman Empire.
