Equal Rights/Deserved Versus Needed

Slovenia-Facebook

Part 1

Equal Rights

In regard to some recent major court decisions in the United States which are a major deal in the lives of evangelical Christians in the United States.

The results are not surprising and the societal, cultural trends have been going liberal, 'progressive' since as long as I could seriously ponder on those issues as a child in the 1980s.

There was never a point in the Western World or in the United States where this trend seemed reversing.

On the other blog, I recently stated views similar to what I will present on this post:

On Rights

In my mind, the same-sex marriage issue is a primarily a homosexual rights issue as opposed to an equal rights for all issue.

The homosexual lobby over the last several decades has become very powerful and has gained enough public and political support in the Western World to gain many of the same rights as heterosexual singles and couples, but in many regards equals rights are not gained for all couples in Western society.

Albert Mohler has stated likewise on his website, on his broadcast 'The Briefing'.

Polygamists still do not have equal rights in most Western jurisdictions to marry, I would reason.

Those who wish to commit adult incest, still do not have the right to marry, in most Western jurisdictions I would reason.

There is simply not complete open marriage rights for all adults in the Western World.

No, I do not support the practice of incest whatsoever, but neither do I based on Scripture and reason support homosexuality, Romans 1, 1 Corinthians 6.

Nor do I support polygamy based primarily on Genesis 1-3 and a Biblical appearance of natural order, admitting Genesis 1-3 although not mythology is religious history and is considered to be written in poetic, figurative literal language by many Genesis scholars, including conservatives.

I am not doubting the historicity of the fall story.

I reason in a democracy persons have the right within reason to live as they wish and God has established the Western World as democratic which I am thankful for.

I do not wish to force my Christianity or Christian views on a minority of persons, but will exercise my views, again within reason. I do not wish to attempt to force my view as a minority on the public non-Christian majority.

Basically, Western society in general has made mainly subjective alterations in views on homosexuality that have led to generally not well-thought out philosophical positions and so now Western societies no longer morally and legal discriminate against homosexuality in marriage the way they once did.

However, most Western governments still will practice forms of moral and legal discrimination against polygamy, and those that legally commit adult incest, for example.

Remember...

Those in the pro-homosexual marriage camp often use the argument that the no one, no government, no church, should prohibit two adults that love each other from being able to publicly get married.

But in reality, Western states are still allowing all types of moral and legal discrimination.

My conclusion is that a solution to this, a way to solve this problem is to allow, and/as in having the right to, every adult to marry every other adult on the planet.

In our context, perhaps just the Western World.

Perhaps one big ceremony online that would put the Moonies to shame.

Well, they already have been put to shame by their actions, but you know what I mean.

This would be equal rights for all. This would eliminate all kinds of moral and legal, religious and government discrimination.

Sort of.

There would of course be several new problems created!

The End

Part 2

Deserved Versus Needed.

Philosophically I separate between the concepts of what for one may be deserved versus what is needed based on one's God-given nature, although from a Biblical perspective it is corrupted (Romans 1-3).

From secular perspectives when I listen to 'relationship coaches' online or read online job postings, materials are often presented in the context of the woman I deserve or the job I deserve.

I do not live life as if I deserve a younger woman because I have waited and trusted God, and still desire my own family.

I do not live life as if I deserve a woman my own age because that is the societal rules, or that is what many persons in the Christian Church will reason.

To me this is ignorance, as this view does not fit me at all.

What I deserve is very secondary, as I am saved by grace through faith in Christ unto good works Ephesians 2) and therefore the far more important issue is under the guidance of the Holy Spirit is what I need according to my nature to serve the Lord most effectively with relationships and with a career.

I reason my needs are to be with someone young enough to have a family with and to have a career based at least somewhat on my degrees but it is based primarily on God directing my nature and will through his nature and will and I would state much less so in the context of sinful humanity on what I may deserve.

This is a major philosophical difference between secular, Western worldviews and Christian, Reformed worldviews.

  3. "ATLANTA (AP) — The president of the fast-food restaurant chain Chick-fil-A has once again injected himself into the gay marriage debate, this time criticizing U.S. Supreme Court rulings.
Dan Cathy posted a comment Wednesday on Twitter criticizing a pair of U.S. Supreme Court rulings. Those decisions will extend federal recognition to same-sex marriages in the states where they are legal, and will add California — the most populous state — to the 12 others in that category.

"Sad day for our nation; founding fathers would be ashamed of our gen. to abandon wisdom of the ages re: cornerstone of strong societies," Cathy wrote, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution (http://bit.ly/12qjRKF ). The post was later deleted.
Chick-fil-A issued a statement acknowledging the post, saying Cathy was offering a personal comment.

"Dan recognizes his views do not necessarily represent the views of all Chick-fil-A customers, restaurant owners and employees, so he removed the tweet to eliminate any confusion," the company said.

Cathy's view on gay marriage has created controversy for the Atlanta-based company best known for its fried chicken sandwiches and closing on Sundays. Last year, Cathy told the Baptist Press that the company was "guilty as charged" for backing "the biblical definition of a family." In a later radio interview, he ratcheted up the rhetoric: "I think we are inviting God's judgment on our nation when we shake our fist at him and say, 'We know better than you as to what constitutes a marriage.'"

Public officials in Boston, Philadelphia and Chicago told the company it was no not welcome, though the firm said it set a one-day sales record when after its supporters — including many religious conservatives — held a "Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day" last year. Gay marriage supporters held a "Kiss In" at the restaurants to protest Cathy's views."

  4. God’s Wrath Against Sinful Humanity

18 The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.

21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles.

24 Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25 They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.

26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.

28 Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. 29 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31 they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. 32 Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them. - Romans 1:18-32

  5. There are those who like to say that the Bible does not condemn homosexuality. Various verses are cited (out of context) and the verses that people use to show that homosexuality is wrong are explained away. The world wants to change God's words and meanings into something more suitable to its sinful desires. Nevertheless, the truth stands: The Bible condemns homosexuality as a sin. Let's look at what it says.

Lev. 18:22, "You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination."

Lev. 20:13, "If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death. Their bloodguiltness is upon them"

1 Cor. 6:9-10, "Or do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, shall inherit the kingdom of God."

Rom. 1:26-28, "For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error. And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper."

Homosexuality is clearly condemned by the Bible. It goes against the created order of God. He created Adam and then made a woman. This is what God has ordained and it is what is right. Unlike other sins, homosexuality has a severe judgment administered by God Himself. This judgment is simple: They are given over to their passions. That means that their hearts are allowed to be hardened by their sins (Romans 1:18ff). As a result, they can no longer see the error of what they are doing. Without an awareness of their sinfulness, there will be no repentance and trusting in Jesus. Without Jesus, they will have no forgiveness. Without forgiveness, there is no salvation.

What should be the Christian's Response to the Homosexual?

Just because someone is a homosexual does not mean that we cannot love him (or her) or pray for him (her). Homosexuality is a sin and like any other sin, it needs to be dealt with in the only way possible. It needs to be laid at the cross, repented of, and never done again.
As a Christian, you should pray for the salvation of the homosexual the same you would any other person in sin. The homosexual is still made in the image of God -- even though he is in grave sin. Therefore, you should show him same dignity as anyone else you come in contact with. However, this does not mean that you are to approve of their sin. Don't compromise your witness for a socially acceptable opinion that is void of godliness.

Yes, the tricky in today’s Western world balance between personal ethical, theological and philosophical integrity and protecting one’s business.

    Sadly.

  12. I put much effort and many hours into research and presentation. I try to be accurate and make many revisions.

    Readers, pageviewers and commenters appreciated.

Please note, those of you too shy to comment, or perhaps just wise.;);> I have arrived at the view that Facebook 'Likes' are slightly more important than comments and I cannot tell who is 'Liking' my posts.

Therefore, those of you Facebook friends, or not, Blogger followers or links or not that have been supporting me somewhat anonymously with pageviews but do not want to comment, IF you would like to provide some of my posts with Facebook 'Likes', I am quite reasonably sure it remains anonymous. I deduce this would be a big deal. Somehow...lol.

When I post on Facebook I usually have one or two automatic 'Likes' and then if there are others I rarely, and again, you readers know I do not baloney on here, I rarely have had any idea who that 'Like' is from.

Only when someone has basically 'Liked' it on my Facebook page seems to me, is the only time I have been aware.

Anyway, if I could receive some anonymous 'Likes' from the Fanclub it would assist in the professionalism of the blog.

The similar application for Google+ will not load from Blogger for some reason, but I do see it internally and I do receive the odd 'Like' on my Google+ page. The version I have posted is for my Google+ as total.

Cheers and have a blessed Sunday.

You played your part. But I still expect more from you overall in life, so don't get cocky.;)

  14. Case in point:

Met a young lady for lunch today via a site, that wanted to meet within the last two days, so it was unexpected. I basically went along with it and she was very nice. And yes she is double digits younger than me and lives in Greater Vancouver, but when I met her turns out she is originally from Eastern Europe (no surprise). She has a MA and did PhD work.

I had seen on her profile she has had ten years+ relationship experience and learned today she had been burned in a marriage. We will not work out because she will only be a member of the Orthodox Church and I am of course Reformed and although a little flexible, not that flexible, and she believes the Eastern Orthodox is the true church.

My point is clearly her relationship experience does not match mine, even though she is younger than me. The age profiling does not necessarily work.

Too expensive, remember most blogs are done for free and make no revenue. I am also not convinced by your copywrite.

A service like yours would be better off signing on with Blogger and WordPress and other and being free to the blogger as a potential application. If it is works well enough.
