'Men with multiple wives have four times the risk of heart disease, a new study has found.

Researchers said the study suggested that the stress of running multiple households and the “emotional expense” of polygamy could place strain on the heart.

'Research on 687 men in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates found that the risks of heart disease increased with each extra wife.

Two thirds of the men in the research were monogamous while the rest had between two and four wives.'

'The study by King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, presented at the Asian Pacific Society of Cardiology Congress in Abu Dhabi, said the link between number of wives and heart problems was “significant”.

Dr Amin Daoulah, research author, said: “We found an association between an increasing number of wives and the severity and number of coronary blockages. This could be because the need to provide and maintain separate households multiplies the financial burden and emotional expense. “Each household must be treated fairly and equally, and it seems likely that the stress of doing that for several spouses and possibly several families of children is considerable.” He said a number of other factors – such as levels of physical activity and intimacy – which might influence heart disease levels – should be analysed in greater depth. The study was observational, examining the relationship between the presence and severity of coronary artery disease (CAD) and number of wives.'

Male patients referred for coronary angiography at five hospitals, with an average age of 59, were included in the research. In total, 68 per cent of those in the study had one wife while 19 per cent had 2 wives, 10 per cent had 3 wives and 3 per cent had 4 wives. Dr Daoulah said: "There is evidence that married people have better overall health and longevity but until now no study has assessed the effect of polygamy on cardiovascular health. “Men who practice polygamy have up to four concurrent wives who can reside in the same or different regions but do not normally reside in the same house.” Polygamy is practiced mainly in North and West Africa, the Middle East, Central Asia and Southeast Asia.

The study found men with more than one wife also likely to be older, and to earn more. After adjusting for baseline differences, the researchers showed that men who practiced polygamy had a 4.6-fold increased risk of coronary heart disease, with a 3.5-fold increased risk of disease in the left main artery, and a 2.6-fold elevated risk of multivessel disease.

'He said it would be interesting to see what effect polygamy had on wives’ risk of heart disease.'

Satirically, still being in the state of selective singleness in a very small Christian pool in the secular Western world, I am pondering on what risk of heart disease there might be to having one wife, even while acknowledging the quote "There is evidence that married people have better overall health and longevity' from more than once source.

There is the possibility of both a literal and figurative broken heart, looks like...

There of course has to be, in my case, a reasonably good, rationally good, Christian wife.

Mueller notes that Christ supports monogamy 'as the only rightful form of marriage' from Matthew 19: 4-6. Mueller (1996: 861).

I can agree from Genesis 1-3 and the New Testament this is the definitive and definite Biblical standard.

I had a Missions Professor opine at ACTS/Trinity Western University that a husband that committed polygamy as a Christian was not necessarily committing a sin.

The Professor was thinking in the context of African and Indian converts to Christianity that had more than one wife and I deduce was reasoning divorce of some of those wives Biblically at that point would be considered sinful and the much greater evil. Therefore, polygamy, in that context, not necessarily sinful, for the sake of family.

However, the Biblical standard stands as can be seen for Biblical leadership as an overseer in 1 Timothy (3) must be the husband of one wife; as seen also in Titus (1),

Mueller, along the lines of what my Missions' Professor stated writes that the Bible/New Testament does not condemn the plural marriages of the Old Testament/Hebrew Bible but the evil effects of polygamy upon families were described throughout the Hebrew Bible. Mueller (1996: 861).

NHL Canadian Team Values 2014 From Forbes

NHL

I am not a fan of how the League is run and operated and I have opined that I view it as too focused on non-traditional hockey markets in the United States, while ignoring other potential markets in Canada and the United States that would have higher team values and have more avid hockey fans.

I have opined that it demonstrates a philosophical religious like irrationality toward an ideal.

The League does appear in better financial condition in comparison to recent years, likely largely based on the new Canadian television agreement with Rogers and the Canadian clubs seem financially in good condition.

I cannot think of another major sport that focuses so much on placing clubs in markets where the sport is only moderately popular while ignoring some markets where it is very or most popular.

European football, somewhat because of my distaste for hockey, but not entirely, has become my favourite sport the last twenty years and although it has its major problems with large clubs and small clubs and competitive balance, at least generally understands the concept of placing a club in a football market as intellectual priority.

NHL Team Value 2014 Forbes

Five Thirty Eight

Toronto Maple Leafs-Wikipedia: Current Value 1.3 Billion and 1st overall in League
And yet the Leafs miss the playoffs in 2015 once again and still no Stanley Cup since 1967. Is there a secret corporate Stanley Cup awarded every year that they often win for being the most valuable franchise? Just wondering...
To make matters worse, the Leafs and the League seem negative on attempts by business groups to put another team into the Greater Toronto Area or Southern Ontario, other than Ottawa which is in reality in Eastern Ontario. So, the Leafs are a corporate monopoly worth over a billion dollars. How Canadian. That is the kind of dynasty the Toronto Maple Leafs are, a corporate one.

Montreal Canadiens-Wikipedia: Current Value 1.0 Billion and 3rd overall in League
One of the two original existing franchises along with Toronto, but since expansion in 1967, much more successful on the ice than Toronto. In comparison to the Leafs they seem, based on results, more committed to winning on the ice and not just off it. However, it is just not the same since the Quebec Nordiques left for Denver and all those brawls they used to have with Montreal, pure entertainment.
Vancouver Canucks-Wikipedia: Current Value 800 million and 5th overall in League
The Canucks are down 3-1 in their first round series to Calgary and at a value of 800 million dollars are quite simply a huge sports club now. However, if they do not start winning championships soon they risk the 'Toronto Maple Leafs West' tag... In other words a corporate hockey club that does not win the championship, but also look pretty in blue and white.
Edmonton Oilers-Wikipedia:Current Value 475 million and 12th overall in League
Here we see the large drop off in Canada from the top three to the rest in value. This is basically the drop from the cities with more than two million in metropolitan population to cities such as Calgary, Ottawa and Edmonton with over a million and Winnipeg under (and Quebec City). How well these smaller markets do financially demonstrates the high amount of hockey fans there are per capita in Canada, but also that these smaller markets must be well-run operations in regard to buildings and also be well-managed clubs. Quebec City and Winnipeg moved to the Excited States of Americana from the Socialist Paradise of Canada largely because they entered the NHL from the World Hockey Association (WHA) in outdated buildings. The Oilers have the first draft pick again, some guy named 'David 'McConnor' or 'David Bruce Banner' or something, anyway, their value is likely rising.
Calgary Flames-Detroithockey.net : Current Value 451 million and 13th in League
I am surprised the Oilers are ahead of them on this list, and I am surprised the Flames are ahead of the Canucks 3-1 in the playoff series, but I put little faith in the Canucks, as I have well-learned. The Flames were my team in the late 1980s after the Islanders dynasty. It would not mind it at all if they beat Montreal in the Stanley Cup Finals, but I doubt it will be this year. The rough stuff image does not hurt marketing wise, either.
Ottawa Senators-NHL: Current Value 400 million and 16th in League
I read online how this team is in the red and the least valuable in Canada. I have read that they are looking for a new arena in downtown Ottawa. I can understand why they would want to be downtown and closer to major business. But for the second year in a row they are ranked in the middle of the League with a metropolitan population of under two million people. The revenue is listed for the year at 117 million and the operating income at 22.5 million. I have read they do not have a good arena deal, but even still, this hardly reads that they are bad off. Outside of them moving to Southern Ontario I would not see a better market for them. Quite doubtful Seattle, Portland or Las Vegas
would be more profitable, look at compatible American cities. Plus Ottawa have a new valuable regional television deal
Winnipeg Jets-NHL: Current Value 358 million and 20th in League
They made 3.3 million in profit which is far less than the Senators, but from what I read online I receive the impression the Jets are the larger club. Western Canadian propaganda. It looks to me that Ottawa even with the need for a new arena in a smaller market are one of the better franchises, while Winnipeg is a smaller market and still successful. Quebec City should be expected to do as well as Winnipeg, but as noted conditions need to be optimal as far as building and operations.

Forgive Me For My Debt: Audio

Blue Grotto, Capri-Facebook

I am interested in reality and spirituality as I have written about on this blog, previously; I want to stay in the real world. I don't want to be influenced by poor reasoning or be deceived.

I reason that God has revealed himself historically and supernaturally in Scripture, and I depend on divine guidance. There are thousands of Biblical manuscripts which speak of the same God dealing with his creation, and it is reasonable to accept his inspired word. Within the Bible healing and the supernatural did take place. I myself have witnessed the power of the supernatural by seeing an exorcism of a person I know.

However, personal experience is not my primary reason for being a Christian, rather I trust in God's guidance, and revelation, and I accept that God is hyper-rational, not illogical, and able to make truth known to me.

Philippians mentions in 1:17-19 that some preach Christ out of selfish ambition, and not from pure motives, but Paul rejoices that Christ is still being proclaimed. To many in the Church perhaps these questionable healing ministries are fraudulent.

I am certainly not a supporter of such ministries and churches.

Jesus and the Apostles did not attempt to perform phony healings for selected people, but from Scriptural evidence were empowered by God. I believe that God can empower someone to perform a healing, but so often I think certain people want to make supernatural things happen and for this reason I think scepticism is healthy in regard to healing and miracles.

The You Tube video satirically puts the point across that much of what occurs in the hyper-charismatic church rivals a video game for realism...

I saw 'Dick Tracy' the film, highlighted on the television listings and thought of the American childhood cartoon I used to watch. I have not viewed the cartoon since childhood.

The show was full of ethnic stereotypes...

A sign of a cultural change from today and there is today more of a cultural sameness within the Western world.
